Workday Prism Analytics Lead1
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Architecture & Project Delivery
Data Pipeline Architecture:
Design and build scalable
ETL (Extract, Transform, Load)
pipelines to ingest high-volume external data into Workday Prism.
Data Modeling:
Utilize the Workday Data Catalog to create curated
Prism Data Sets
. Perform complex data transformations (Joins, Unions, Group By, Filter) to blend external records with Workday Core HCM/Finance objects (e.g., blending Salesforce Revenue data with Workday Sales Compensation data).
Advanced Visualization:
Design and configure executive-level
Discovery Boards
and
Composite Reports
that visualize blended data, providing insights that standard Workday reporting cannot achieve.
Security Architecture:
Define and enforce
Prism Security Domains
, ensuring that sensitive external data (e.g., historical payroll or diversity benchmarks) is restricted to appropriate user groups.
Solution Design:
Partner with Finance and HR stakeholders to determine the "Buy vs. Build" strategy for reporting—advising when to use Workday Prism versus external data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift).
L2 Support & Operational Management
Pipeline Monitoring:
specific monitoring of daily scheduled data imports (API/SFTP). Investigate and resolve failures related to "Bad Rows," API timeouts, or schema mismatches.
Performance Tuning:
Troubleshoot and optimize slow-running reports or Prism datasets that exceed processing time limits. Refactor inefficient calculated fields or join logic.
Capacity Governance:
specific management of
Prism Storage Capacity
. Implement data retention policies, archive obsolete datasets, and optimize row counts to remain within licensed limits.
Change Management:
Perform impact analysis on Prism datasets during bi-annual Workday releases. Ensure that changes to Core Workday objects do not break downstream Prism mappings.
Incident Resolution:
Serve as the Tier 2/3 support point for "Data Discrepancy" tickets, investigating root causes where reported numbers in Prism do not match source systems.
Qualifications
Mandatory Education & Certifications
Workday Certification:
Active
Workday Prism Analytics
certification (Pro or Implementer) is strictly required.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Required Experience
Workday Experience:
4+ years of hands-on experience in the Workday ecosystem.
Prism Expertise:
Minimum 2+ years of dedicated experience building Prism Data Sets, pipelines, and Discovery Boards.
Data Engineering Skills:
Strong proficiency in
SQL concepts
(Inner/Outer Joins, Unions, Case Logic) and data transformation principles.
Core Knowledge:
Deep understanding of the
Workday Object Model
(Business Objects, Fields, Instances) required to successfully map external data to internal IDs.
Preferred Skills
Secondary Certification:
Workday Advanced Reporting or Composite Reporting.
Analytics Tools:
Experience with Workday
People Analytics (VIBE Central)
or external BI tools (Tableau, PowerBI).
Integration:
Basic ability to read/debug XML, XSLT, or API logs.
Competencies
Analytical Thinking:
Ability to translate vague business questions (e.g., "Are we paying our sales team effectively?") into concrete data models and visualizations.
Attention to Detail:
obsession with data accuracy and validation.
Communication:
Ability to explain complex data limitations or pipeline failures to non-technical stakeholders.
