🎯 The Role
We're looking for a sharp CA who can be more than an accountant — someone who treats the P&L as a strategic tool, not just a compliance artifact.
You'll report directly to the CEO and own finance end-to-end: from unit economics dashboards and burn tracking to GST filings and audit prep. This is a solo role — you'll work with external agencies (auditors, tax consultants) but the thinking and decision-making is yours.
🚫 This role is not for someone who wants to quietly close books every month.
✅ It's for someone who'll flag "our CAC and payback is slipping" before being asked.
📋 What You'll Own
📊 Business Finance (this is why we're hiring)
- Build and own monthly MIS, unit economics, and key SaaS metrics (ARR, burn rate, runway, LTV/CAC, gross margins)
- Own the budgeting process — build realistic plans with department heads, then hold them accountable on variances
- Scenario modeling and runway forecasting to support fundraise and strategic decisions
- Cost benchmarking across departments — identify where we're overspending relative to stage/scale
- Investor reporting — board decks, data rooms, due diligence prep as we scale toward Series B and beyond
- Financial models for pricing decisions, hiring plans, and new initiatives
🔒 Compliance & Accounting (the foundation — you'll keep this tight)
- Monthly, quarterly, and annual close — timely and accurate
- All accounting operations: AP, AR, general ledger, bank reconciliations on Zoho Books
- GST, TDS, income tax compliance — filings, returns, and minimizing liabilities
- Internal controls and audit readiness
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and legal as needed
🧠 You Should Be
- ✅ Qualified CA with 2-4 years of post-qualification experience in Big4
- ✅ Someone who's worked in at least one fast-moving environment — Startup stint is a strong +
- ✅ Hands-on with Zoho Books (or similar cloud accounting tools) and Excel/Sheets
- ✅ A clear communicator who can explain financial implications to founders and team leads
- ✅ Someone who takes ownership — you'll be expected to flag problems and propose solutions
