System Administrator – HFT (Linux & Low-Latency Systems) About the Company Zanskar Research Pvt. We specialize in building ultra-low latency trading systems and advanced infrastructure to gain a competitive edge in global financial markets. Job Summary We are looking for a highly skilled System Administrator with deep expertise in Linux systems and a strong understanding of HFT infrastructure. You will be responsible for managing and optimizing mission-critical, low-latency trading environments where performance is measured in microseconds, including data centre infrastructure, networks, and large-scale data systems. Key Responsibilities • Deploy, configure, and maintain Linux servers (Ubuntu, Red Hat, and other distributions) • Manage and optimize low-latency, high-performance trading systems • Perform advanced system tuning (CPU pinning, NUMA optimization, kernel tuning) • Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and ensure maximum uptime and reliability • Collaborate with traders, quants, and developers to support trading strategies • Manage bare-metal infrastructure with a focus on performance and latency • Administer data centre Linux environments and server infrastructure • Automate tasks using scripting (Bash, Python) • Implement system security, patching, and upgrades • Maintain monitoring systems (Prometheus, Grafana) • Manage high-performance storage and trading data HFT, Networking & Data Centre Responsibilities • Support HFT architecture and workflows • Manage data centre networks (L2/L3, VLANs, routing) • Work with ultra-low latency networks (10/25/40/100GbE) • Tune network stack (TCP/UDP, multicast, DPDK/OpenOnload) • Support market data and execution systems • Manage exchange connectivity and colocation • Optimize latency, jitter, and packet loss Required Skills • Linux expertise (Ubuntu, Red Hat, CentOS) • Linux internals and performance tuning • Networking (TCP/IP, UDP, multicast) • HFT / low-latency environment experience • Data centre infrastructure knowledge • High-speed storage (NVMe) • FPGA / ultra-low latency exposure • Solarflare / Mellanox NICs • Cisco Nexus X25 SmartNIC (K3P-S) • Hardware tuning (BIOS, NUMA, CPU pinning) • Bash/Python scripting • Monitoring and troubleshooting tools Qualifications • BE/B.Tech in IT, Computer Science, or related field • Linux certifications (RHCE, RHCSA, LPIC) or Networking (CCNA, CCNP) Soft Skills • Strong analytical mindset • Works well under pressure • Good communication skills • Attention to detail Why Join Zanskar Research Pvt.
