About the Role As a Staff Engineer at Aspora, you’ll be a central technical force shaping the backend architecture that powers our global banking platform. This is a deeply hands-on role where you’ll design, build, and scale systems that serve millions of users across markets. You’ll work on large, ambiguous problems, break them down into clear technical direction, and partner closely with product, design, and operations to bring high-impact features to life. As one of the senior-most Individual Contributors in the team, you’ll raise the technical bar, mentor engineers, and influence engineering culture and decision-making across pods. If you enjoy building from scratch, solving complex distributed-systems challenges, and operating at a pace where ideas turn into shipped features quickly - you’ll feel right at home at Aspora. Location: Bangalore, India What You Will Do • Drive system architecture and high-level design for scalable, reliable backend platforms. • Stay hands-on with coding, debugging, testing, and deployment to deliver high-quality backend services. • Build and evolve systems end-to-end; prior experience creating services from scratch is a strong plus. • Make informed technical decisions by evaluating architectural trade-offs and long-term impact. • Own performance, reliability, and operational excellence across backend components. • Convert product requirements into robust technical solutions through close cross-functional collaboration. • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical guidance. • Define and champion engineering standards and best practices across the backend stack. • Bring deep expertise in system design, distributed systems, databases, queues, caching, and cloud infrastructure. • Shape technical direction and drive key engineering initiatives that strengthen the overall platform. Who You Are • You bring 7–12 years of strong backend engineering experience. • You’re motivated to build products from the ground up and help define technical processes at Aspora. • You understand the pace and mindset of a startup and are excited to contribute to its growth and culture. • You have deep technical expertise, paired with a willingness to learn and adapt to Aspora’s internal systems and ways of working. • We are language-agnostic and value strong engineering fundamentals over specific tech stacks.
