About this role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Asset and License Compliance Manager to join our team. In this role, you will oversee the management of software assets and ensure compliance with licensing agreements. You will be responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory of software assets, monitoring license usage, and mitigating compliance risks. The ideal candidate will have expertise in software asset management (SAM), license tracking, and compliance auditing, along with a deep understanding of software licensing models. 3 to 5 years of experience in software asset management, license compliance, or a related role. Strong knowledge of software licensing models, including perpetual, subscription, and cloud-based licenses. Experience with SAM tools and software inventory management systems. Knowledge of cloud service providers and SaaS license management. Proven track record in managing software audits and compliance activities. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments. Certifications related to software asset management (e.g., ITIL, Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM), or similar) are a plus. Familiarity with industry standards and frameworks related to software compliance (e.g., ISO/IEC 19770) are a plus. Key Responsibilities: Software Asset Management: Develop and implement software asset management policies, procedures, and best practices. Oversee the full lifecycle of software assets, including acquisition, deployment, usage tracking, and retirement. Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all software assets and related contracts. License Compliance Monitoring: Ensure compliance with software license agreements and software use rights across the organization. Conduct regular audits of software usage to ensure that licenses are not being overused or underutilized. Collaborate with internal teams to address and resolve any license compliance issues, such as overuse, unlicensed software, or unauthorized installations. Vendor and Contract Management: Maintain relationships with software vendors and third-party service providers to negotiate licenses, renewals, and terms of service. Review and track software contracts to ensure proper license terms are met and renegotiate when necessary. Reporting and Documentation: Create and maintain detailed records of software purchases, licenses, and compliance status. Provide regular reports to management on software license compliance, potential risks, and cost-saving opportunities. Prepare and present compliance audit findings and recommendations. Risk Mitigation and Optimization: Proactively identify risks related to software asset management and license compliance and develop strategies to mitigate those risks. Recommend and implement cost-saving initiatives related to software licenses and usage optimization. Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with IT, procurement, legal, Infosec and other departments to ensure effective license management and compliance processes. Educate and train staff on software asset management best practices and licensing compliance.
