<p>The L3 Backup & Recovery Engineer is a senior technical resource responsible for the <strong>design, implementation, optimization, and support</strong> of enterprise backup and recovery platforms, with primary focus on <strong>Cohesity DataProtect</strong> and <strong>IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (IBM Spectrum Protect)</strong>. This role provides <strong>expert‑level troubleshooting</strong>, leads <strong>incident resolution</strong>, supports <strong>DR readiness</strong>, and acts as a technical escalation point for L1/L2 teams and client environments.</p>
<p><strong>Job Responsibilities</strong></p>
<p><strong>Technical Operations & Support</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Serve as <strong>L3 escalation</strong> for complex backup, restore, replication, and DR issues across Cohesity DataProtect and Tivoli Storage Manager environments</li>
<li>Perform advanced <strong>root cause analysis</strong> for backup failures, performance issues, data corruption, and recovery incidents</li>
<li>Lead and execute <strong>critical restores</strong> (file, VM, database, application‑level, and full system recovery)</li>
<li>Support <strong>24x7 shifts </strong>(including weekends and holidays)<strong> </strong>with<strong> </strong>rotations and major incident bridges as required</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Platform Engineering & Administration</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Maintain <strong>enterprise backup architectures</strong> using Cohesity DataProtect and Tivoli Storage Manager</li>
<li>Configure and manage:</li>
<ul>
<li>Backup policies, schedules, and SLAs</li>
<li>Retention, replication, and archival strategies (on‑prem and cloud targets)</li>
<li>Encryption, immutability, and ransomware protection features</li>
</ul>
<li>Perform <strong>capacity planning</strong>, performance tuning, and storage optimization</li>
<li>Lead <strong>platform upgrades, migrations, and version lifecycle management</strong></li>
</ul>

<p><strong>Disaster Recovery & Compliance</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Participate in and lead <strong>DR tests</strong>, audits, and recovery simulations</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with <strong>RPO/RTO, security, and regulatory requirements</strong></li>
<li>Support data protection strategies for <strong>hybrid, cloud, and virtualized environments</strong></li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Automation & Continuous Improvement</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Automate backup operations and reporting using <strong>scripts and native tooling</strong> where applicable</li>
<li>Identify opportunities to standardize, optimize, and reduce operational risk</li>
<li>Mentor and provide technical guidance to <strong>L1/L2 engineers</strong></li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Client & Stakeholder Engagement</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Act as a <strong>technical advisor</strong> to clients and internal teams</li>
<li>Participate in root‑cause reviews and technical design discussions</li>
<li>Create and maintain <strong>technical documentation</strong>, SOPs, and knowledge articles</li>
</ul>

<li>Enterprise backup concepts: incremental/full, deduplication, replication</li>
<li><strong>ServiceNow</strong> for ITSM</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Infrastructure Platforms</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Virtualization: <strong>VMware and Hyper‑V</strong></li>
<li>Operating Systems: <strong>Windows Server, Linux (RHEL, SUSE, AIX preferred)</strong></li>
<li>Databases & applications: SQL Server, Oracle, file systems (preferred)</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Object storage (S3‑compatible, Azure Blob – preferred)</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Experience & Qualifications</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>7–10+ years</strong> in enterprise backup or data protection roles</li>
<li>Strong experience administering <strong>Cohesity Data Protect</strong> and <strong>Tivoli Storage Manager / IBM Spectrum Protect</strong></li>
<li>Experience in <strong>managed services or large enterprise environments</strong> preferred</li>
<li>Relevant certifications (preferred but not required):</li>
<ul>
<li>Cohesity certification</li>
<li>IBM Spectrum Protect certification</li>
</ul>
</ul>
<p><strong>Soft Skills</strong></p>
