Title and Summary Senior Software Engineer Senior Software Engineer – Integrations & API Connectivity Overview The Integrations & API Connectivity team is responsible for building secure, scalable, and compliant connections to Open Banking APIs of Financial Institutions and Payroll Providers. The team enables seamless integration across the financial ecosystem, supporting Mastercard’s innovative products and platform expansion. Role & Responsibilities As a Senior Software Engineer, you will: Design, develop, and deliver secure, high‑quality API integrations with financial institutions and payroll providers Lead system development, enhancements, and maintenance to meet defined service level agreements (SLAs) Own the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support Manage production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and participate in on‑call support rotations Research, evaluate, and recommend new technologies, frameworks, and third‑party solutions Collaborate closely with external vendors and ensure effective knowledge transfer to internal teams Promote engineering excellence through code reviews, quality assurance processes, and adherence to Mastercard standards Mentor and guide team members, including offshore developers, throughout the SDLC All About You Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering or related technical roles Strong experience designing and building APIs and integration‑focused systems Solid understanding of modern software engineering principles, distributed systems, and secure application development Experience supporting production systems, including incident management and on‑call responsibilities High‑energy, detail‑oriented, and proactive, with the ability to work independently and manage priorities under pressure Strong initiative, self‑motivation, and a results‑driven mindset Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong collaboration and organizational abilities Willingness to learn, adapt, and take on challenges in a diverse, globally distributed team Preferred Qualifications 7+ years of experience delivering complex software systems at scale Experience delivering secure solutions in the Financial Services, Payments, or Open Banking domain Familiarity with regulatory, compliance, and security standards relevant to financial integrations Working knowledge of AI‑assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot (GHCP), Claude, and similar generative AI tools, with the ability to leverage them to improve developer productivity, code quality, and engineering efficiency (strong plus) Corporate Security Responsibility All activities involving access to Mastercard assets, information, and networks comes with an inherent risk to the organization and, therefore, it is expected that every person working for, or on behalf of, Mastercard is responsible for information security and must: Abide by Mastercard’s security policies and practices; Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the information being accessed; Report any suspected information security violation or breach, and Complete all periodic mandatory security trainings in accordance with Mastercard’s guidelines.
