Role Overview
The
Senior Project Manager
at Rootquotient leads delivery of complex, multi-team projects with significant organizational impact. You are the escalation point for critical project issues, a mentor to Project Managers, and a trusted strategic partner to both clients and internal leadership. This role demands sophisticated planning, executive stakeholder management, financial acumen, and the ability to drive organizational delivery excellence through continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Project Planning & Roadmap Development
Develop strategic project plans for complex, multi-phase initiatives; manage organizational dependencies; anticipate and mitigate complexity risks; align project strategy with organizational objectives.
Drive account roadmap development, with clear sequencing and dependency mapping to maximize strategic value delivery.
Proactively understand the client's business domain, products, and users to make informed recommendations on scope and delivery approach.
2. Complex Schedule & Delivery Management
Manage complex project schedules with multiple interdependencies; optimize the critical path across organizational constraints.
Apply resource leveling and buffer management techniques; forecast schedule trends and course-correct deviations in collaboration with the Delivery Manager.
Drive 95% on-time delivery across all assigned complex projects, implementing proactive corrective actions.
3. Budget & Financial Leadership
Manage project budgets allocated from Sales handover and Delivery Manager targets; track utilization and forecast final costs rigorously.
Ensure allocation-to-billability ratio is maintained at an optimum level; identify opportunities to unlock new account growth and increase revenue.
Implement value engineering and cost optimization strategies to sustain healthy project margins.
4. Resource & Capacity Management
Lead large cross-functional teams; manage matrix reporting relationships and coordinate sub-teams and specialized groups.
Resolve team conflicts; plan resource needs across project duration; optimize team utilization to achieve 95% efficiency.
Partner with the Delivery Manager on capacity planning to ensure highest-value initiatives are prioritized.
5. Executive Stakeholder Management
Manage executive-level stakeholders including C-suite contacts; communicate complex information clearly to senior leadership.
Navigate organizational politics; build strategic partnerships and drive stakeholder consensus.
Serve as the primary escalation point for client concerns; resolve conflicts with proven negotiation skills without damaging client relationships.
Conduct executive steering committee meetings; prepare strategic status reports and presentations.
6. Risk & Dependency Management
Conduct sophisticated risk analysis; identify early warning indicators and develop comprehensive mitigation strategies.
Manage enterprise-level risks and coordinate cross-project risk responses; escalate account-level risks appropriately.
Identify and manage complex inter-project dependencies; coordinate with multiple Project Managers to manage enterprise integration points.
7. Quality & Delivery Excellence
Establish quality standards and enforce compliance across all project deliverables; manage complex QA processes.
Drive a quality culture; achieve zero-defect delivery targets and ensure regulatory compliance where applicable.
Track project progress weekly against the delivery plan; implement timely corrective actions and escalate critical deviations to the Delivery Manager.
8. Team Leadership & Mentorship
Mentor and coach Project Managers; develop delivery talent and share best practices across the organization.
Guide a minimum of 2 PMs toward measurable career advancement; contribute to organizational process improvements.
Foster a culture shift from 'Command and Control' to 'Enablement' — demonstrating how to unblock teams rather than just track them.
9. Governance & Process Discipline
Establish and enforce project governance frameworks and decision-making structures across all assigned initiatives.
Ensure rigorous process adherence and quality checks are maintained across all project management activities.
Contribute to organizational delivery standards; drive adoption of best practices and continuous improvement.
10. Scaled Agile & Methodology Leadership
Lead scaled agile delivery at the program level; manage dependencies across agile teams and coordinate agile transformations.
Optimize delivery velocity and coach teams on agile maturity; manage release planning across multiple teams.
Evaluate and pilot emerging delivery methodologies; scale successful innovations across the delivery organization.
Qualifications
Must-Have:
Experience Profile A:
10+ years of Project & Delivery Management experience, with a primary focus on
0-to-1 digital product development
(enhancements and maintenance experience is secondary).
OR Experience Profile B:
Minimum 5-7 years as a Project/Delivery Management experience plus 3-5+ years in a functional or technical role within Software/Product development.
Methodology
: Expertise and implementation of
Hybrid Agile
, Kanban, or Scaled Agile (SAFe) frameworks into Project management methodology.
Portfolio handling: Ability to handle minimum of 3-5 projects based on size (timeline & cost) with team count of 20+ members of different cross functions.
Tools:
Expert in usage of Project management tools like
Azure Dev Ops, JIRA
or similar tools
Technical Insight:
Ability to understand technical architecture and solutioning (JS, Java, Mobile technologies) to derive accurate and robust delivery plans.
P&L Management
: Good understanding of the financial & client account dynamics to achieve the expected targets of revenue forecast & margin within portfolio as a whole.
Experience Profile
A:
7–10 years of Project & Delivery Management experience with a primary focus on digital product development (
0-to-1 builds preferred over maintenance/enhancements
).
OR Experience Profile
B:
5+ years in Project Management plus 2–3 years in a functional or technical role within software or product development.
Proven experience managing complex, multi-team projects independently — including end-to-end delivery ownership with a team size of 15 or above.
Methodology:
Expertise in Hybrid Agile, Kanban, or Scaled Agile (SAFe) frameworks; ability to coordinate release planning across multiple agile teams.
Demonstrated financial management capability: budget tracking, forecasting, variance control, and profitability awareness.
Tools:
Proficiency in PM tools such as Azure DevOps, JIRA, or equivalent.
Technical aptitude:
ability to understand and question the architectural decisions and technical solutioning (e.g., JavaScript, Java, Mobile technologies) to drive accurate delivery planning.
Experience mentoring at least 1–2 Project Managers/Juniors in Delivery organization with demonstrable impact on their growth.
Education & Certifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology. An
MBA
from a reputable institution is good to have (preferred).
Industry Standards:
Good to have Project Management certifications such as
PMP, Prince2, CSM, or SAFe
