Position Overview
•Own the Merchant side of the ShopSe platform end-to-end — onboarding, activation, agent activation, repeat behaviour, and journey gap-fixing.
•Senior IC role with full ownership of measurable outcomes and clear accountability for results.
•Reports directly to the Director of Product. Works closely with cross-functional teams — tech, sales, ops, risk and design.
•Drives measurable QoQ improvements in activation, repeat % and agent base. Zero merchants stuck in onboarding due to product gaps.
Responsibilities will include …
Functional Expertise
•Merchant Activation & Reactivation: — Own the activation funnel for new merchants and the reactivation playbook for inactive ones and reduce inactive count QoQ.
•Agent Activation: — Grow the activated agent base on a daily-tracked basis. Remove last-mile friction with field sales and ops.
•Repeat Merchant Funnel: — Own repeat-merchant % as a north-star metric. Ship features and incentives that drive 2nd, 3rd, 4th transactions.
•Onboarding Journey & Gap Fixing: — Run a gap-identification cycle across the full journey — KYC, agreements, integrations, first transaction. Hard target: zero stuck merchants.
AI as a First-Class Lever
•Bring an AI-first approach to product and operations — use AI to write BRDs and PRDs, accelerate research and competitive analysis, automate document and KYC checks, and identify product opportunities where AI meaningfully moves the funnel.
Interaction
•Cross-Functional Coordination: — Sales, ops, risk, design, engineering. Weekly tech syncs, monthly business reviews, quarterly planning.
•Field & Merchant Engagement: — Spend time with merchants and agents. Sit with sales and onboarding teams. Build real intuition for non-tech-savvy users.
Problem Solving
•Funnel & Cohort Analytics: — Read funnels, run cohort analyses, and own the dashboards that drive your KRAs. Separate real product gaps from acquisition noise.
•Strategic Vision: — Translate FY26–27 ambition into a sequenced roadmap. Defend it with data when priorities collide.
Qualification & Experience
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related field; MBA preferred but not mandatory.
•5–8 years in product management, with 3+ years owning a merchant-facing, SMB-facing or supply-side product surface.
•Direct experience in fintech, EMI, lending, payments or marketplace supply strongly preferred.
•Proven track record of moving activation, retention or repeat-usage metrics — with numbers.
•Deep understanding of merchant onboarding and KYC.
•Familiarity with India’s fintech rails — UPI, EMI on UPI, Credit Line on UPI, Account Aggregator framework, NBFC regulatory context — is a strong plus.
•Hands-on fluency with AI tools in daily product work — LLM assistants for spec writing, prompt design for research and analysis, and a clear point of view on where AI fits in a fintech stack.
•Excellent written and verbal communication. Crisp PRDs. Can defend a roadmap without slides.
