The Big Picture
As a Senior Grid Analytics Expert, you will lead and execute power system studies supporting renewable and conventional generation interconnections across US ISOs/RTOs. This role focuses on performing detailed analytical studies, ensuring regulatory compliance, and translating grid requirements into technically robust and commercially viable interconnection solutions. You will work at the intersection of transmission planning, interconnection engineering, and reliability compliance for grids.
What you can expect as a Senior Grid Analytics Expert:
You’ll Turn grid rules and market frameworks into
forecasting, dispatch, and bidding logic
that can be simulated, validated, and deployed with confidence.
You’ll design and validate control strategies for DERs, BESS, inverters, and grid-interactive assets
You’ll perform Feasibility, System Impact, and Facilities Studies aligned with US ISO/RTO processes such as PJM Interconnection, MISO, CAISO, ERCOT, and ISO New England
You’ll conduct load flow, short circuit, contingency and transient stability studies
You’ll evaluate renewable (Solar/Wind), BESS, and hybrid plant interconnections
You’ll assess system strength, voltage stability, and reactive power performance
You’ll identify required transmission upgrades and develop technical justifications
You’ll perform protection coordination and breaker duty evaluations
You’ll support compliance with NERC standards (TPL, MOD, PRC)
You’ll prepare detailed technical study reports for US utility and ISO submissions
You’ll coordinate with clients, ISO planners, and internal design teams for model validation and comment resolution
You’ll review dynamic models (GENROU, REGC_A, REEC_B, etc.) for inverter-based resources
You’ll support regulatory documentation and audit requirements
Essential Qualifications include:
6-12 years of experience in Grid Analytics, Power Systems, or Transmission Planning
Strong foundation in:
Power systems fundamentals
Transmission planning principles
Control systems (classical / modern control concepts)
Grid dynamics with high renewable and DER penetration
Fault analysis and protection philosophy
Stability analysis of inverter-based resources
Experience performing interconnection studies for US utilities
Proficiency in at least one of the following:
PSS®E
PSLF
PSCAD
ASPEN / ETAP
Strong technical documentation and reporting skills aligned with US standards
Great to have:
Experience in distribution-level hosting capacity or DER impact studies
Exposure to large-scale renewable portfolios
Familiarity with FERC-driven interconnection reforms
Client-facing or consulting experience with US stakeholders
Exposure to hybrid plants (Solar + BESS) or grid-forming inverters
