The
Senior FinOps Engineer
is responsible for optimizing, governing and evolving the financial operations of IFS cloud services, with primary focus on
Microsoft Azure
and supporting awareness of multi-cloud and AI-related technology consumption where relevant.
This role goes beyond traditional cost reporting. It is responsible for driving
technology value

across engineering, operations, finance, and leadership teams. The successful candidate will lead FinOps practices across cloud spend visibility, forecasting, budgeting, allocation, optimization, commitment management, and governance, while also helping IFS adopt
AI-enabled FinOps capabilities
, automation, and modern reporting standards.
The ideal candidate will combine strong Azure FinOps expertise with a proactive mindset for automation, analytics, stakeholder engagement, and the adoption of AI and AI-adjacent technologies in support operations.
Responsibilities
Own and improve FinOps practices for Azure, including cost visibility, allocation, forecasting, budgeting, and optimization.
Monitor cloud spend, usage trends, and anomalies, and recommend corrective actions.
Drive cost optimization through Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and other commercial levers.
Partner with engineering, operations, and architecture teams to design cost-efficient, scalable solutions.
Establish and maintain FinOps governance, including tagging, budgets, guardrails, and cost ownership.
Improve cost data quality, transparency, and reporting across cloud services.
Deliver clear financial and operational insights to stakeholders, including leadership. Automate FinOps reporting, controls, and workflows using scripting and platform tools.
Work on AI-powered FinOps automation
solutions for repetitive activities such as budget monitoring, spend review, follow-ups, and optimization tracking.
Help govern AI-related cloud spend through visibility, budgeting, tagging, and efficiency tracking.
Mentoring/guiding other team members and promoting FinOps best practices across teams.
Required
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
5+ years of total professional experience, with 3+ years in cloud financial management, FinOps, cloud operations, cloud governance, or a related discipline.
Azure certification such as AZ-900 and/or AZ-104, or comparable practical experience.
Equivalent AWS/GCP certifications.
Preferred
FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP).
FinOps Certified FOCUS Analyst or familiarity with FOCUS-based cost and usage data concepts.
Exposure to AWS and/or GCP cost management concepts.
Experience in presenting FinOps outcomes to leadership and influencing decision-making through business-focused insights.
Preferred Skills
Strong expertise in Azure FinOps, including cost analysis, optimization, budgeting, forecasting, commitment planning, and reporting.
Good understanding of modern FinOps principles, including accountability, collaboration, governance, unit economics/value orientation, and continuous optimization.
Experience working with cross-functional teams spanning engineering, operations, finance, and business stakeholders.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical and financial topics clearly.
Experience driving operational improvements through automation, standardization, and process enhancement.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities across operational and strategic activities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with high attention to detail.
