You will focus on writing high-quality, scalable code for the backend services that power our real-time fraud detection capabilities. You will work closely with the Lead Engineer to build, test, and deploy a resilient and performant system. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality, scalable backend microservices for the Fraud Monitoring Platform using Java and Spring Boot. Partner with the Lead Engineer on solution design and participate actively in code reviews to ensure alignment with architectural principles and maintain high code quality standards. Implement robust integrations with internal and external systems. Champion a "shift-left" approach to quality by writing comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests for all new features. Contribute to the operational health of the platform by participating in troubleshooting, and incident resolution as part of our "you build it, you run it" culture. Collaborate with the DevOps engineer to ensure services are observable, easy to deploy, and meet non-functional requirements for performance and reliability. Your skills and experience Strong, hands-on backend programming experience with the modern Java ecosystem (Java 17+, Spring Boot). Overall experience of 9-14 years in software engineering, with a strong focus on building robust, scalable backend systems. Solid understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems principles. Practical experience with event-driven architecture and messaging systems, specifically Kafka. Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and an understanding of in-memory data stores/caches (Redis). A strong commitment to quality with hands-on experience in writing various levels of automated tests (unit, integration, E2E, BDD). Experience working in a cloud-native environment (GCP preferred) and familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). Working knowledge of Git, CI/CD pipelines, and agile development methodologies. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues across multiple services. A collaborative mindset with strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a lean, focused engineering team.
