What you’ll do — key responsibilities Define and be responsible for the technical vision and multi-year roadmap in alignment with the org strategy. Lead, mentor and scale engineering leaders (Directors / Senior Managers) and their teams across architecture, platform, and product engineering. Deliver high quality, reliable products— set priorities, remove blockers, and ensure engineering execution across multiple teams and geographies. Establish and operationalize engineering standards: architecture and system design reviews, SLOs/SLIs, incident management, CI/CD, testing, and observability. Own capacity planning, engineering productivity metrics, and engineering budget (headcount, contractors, vendor spend). Drive hiring, retention, talent development, succession planning and performance calibration for senior engineering roles. Partner closely with Product, Design, Data Science, Security and Business stakeholders to align priorities and deliver measurable business outcomes. Be accountable for technical risk management — security, compliance, vendor risk, technical debt and scalability. Represent the org externally for key hires, vendor negotiations and major cross-org initiatives. Develop an inclusive culture that encourages continuous learning, experimentation and data-driven decision making. What success looks like High availability and latency improvements against agreed SLOs for core systems. Predictable delivery of major milestones and product launches (on-time, within scope). Improved engineering productivity metrics (cycle time, deployment frequency, mean time to recover). Successful hiring and retention of senior technical talent; reduction in time-to-fill for critical roles. Clear architecture roadmap and measurable reduction in technical debt. Strong cross functional collaboration and stakeholder satisfaction. Required qualifications 12+ years of software engineering experience with 6+ years in people leadership (managing managers) at scale. Proven experience leading multiple engineering teams (50+ engineers) building distributed systems, high-traffic services or platform infrastructure. Strong technical background (system design, cloud architecture, data platforms, performance and security). Experience scaling engineering organizations in India (hiring, local talent market dynamics, campus/recruiting). Proven success in hiring, mentoring and developing senior leaders. Track record driving measurable improvements in reliability, delivery and engineering productivity. Excellent stakeholder management — able to influence product, business and senior leadership. Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. Preferred qualifications Experience in marketplace / e-commerce / payments or consumer internet companies. Experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, and large data platforms. MBA or equivalent business experience.
