Job Summary
The Senior Business Analyst – HIS/EMR Implementation will act as a critical bridge between clinical
and operational users and technology teams during the implementation of hospital systems. This
role is responsible for leading requirement gathering, workflow analysis, process redesign, fit-gap
analysis, documentation, testing support, and stakeholder alignment to ensure successful
deployment of HIS/EMR solutions. The ideal candidate should possess strong healthcare domain
knowledge, excellent analytical capability, and hands-on experience in digital healthcare
transformation projects.
Key Responsibilities – Business and Functional Analysis
Lead requirement gathering sessions with clinicians, nurses, administrators, finance users, and
operational stakeholders.
Analyze existing workflows and define future-state processes for HIS/EMR adoption.
Conduct fit-gap analysis between current business processes and system functionality.
Translate business needs into clear functional requirements, user stories, process maps, and
solution documentation.
Ensure traceability of requirements across design, build, testing, and deployment phases.
Key Responsibilities – Healthcare Workflow Mapping
Map workflows for patient registration, appointment scheduling, admissions, discharge,
transfer, clinical documentation, order entry, medication management, billing, claims,
laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy.
Recommend process improvements to improve efficiency, compliance, patient safety, and user
experience.
Work closely with end users to validate clinical and non-clinical workflows.
Key Responsibilities – Stakeholder Engagement
Act as the primary functional liaison between users, project teams, IT teams, and vendors.
Facilitate workshops, design sessions, and requirement validation meetings.
Manage stakeholder expectations and secure sign-off on business requirements and process
changes.
Support executive and departmental reporting with clear analysis and project insights.
Key Responsibilities – Solution Design Support
Collaborate with technical teams and vendors to ensure business requirements are reflected
accurately in system configuration and solution design.
Review configuration documents, prototypes, and functional design outputs.
Support master data setup, forms design, rules validation, and reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities – Testing and Deployment Support
Prepare and review test scenarios, test scripts, and acceptance criteria.
Support SIT, UAT, and defect triage from a business perspective.
Validate that delivered functionality meets user requirements and compliance expectations.
Assist in go-live readiness, super-user enablement, and post-go-live issue analysis.
Key Responsibilities – Change Management and Training Support
Support training material review, SOP updates, and business communication documents.
Identify change impacts across departments and support transition planning.
Help drive user adoption through functional support and process clarification.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Nursing, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Health Informatics, Business,
Information Systems, or related discipline.
8–10 years of experience in business analysis, with at least 4–5 years in healthcare IT, HIS, or
EMR implementation.
Proven experience in hospital or healthcare workflow analysis and system implementation.
Strong understanding of clinical and operational processes in healthcare settings.
Required Skills and Competencies
Excellent requirement gathering and business analysis skills.
Strong healthcare domain knowledge across clinical and administrative functions.
Expertise in process mapping, BRD/FRD creation, use cases, and workflow documentation.
Strong communication and facilitation skills.
Experience in UAT planning, defect management, and solution validation.
Knowledge of interoperability, reporting, and data migration concepts is desirable.
Proficiency in tools such as Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, JIRA, and Confluence.
Preferred Experience
Experience working on enterprise HIS/EMR platforms.
Exposure to implementation in multi-specialty hospitals.
Knowledge of accreditation, regulatory, and privacy requirements in healthcare.
Certification in CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, or Health Informatics is a plus.
