About this role

About Rootquotient Rootquotient is a premier product engineering institution. We partner with ambitious organizations to build outcomes that matter. As a Senior Business Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions — analyzing complex business processes, owning end-to-end requirement management, and driving process improvements to deliver impactful, user-centered solutions. Role Overview The Senior Business Analyst at Rootquotient owns requirement management for assigned projects from end to end, acting as the primary bridge between business stakeholders, product owners, UX/UI designers, development, and QA teams. You bring structured thinking, deep functional expertise, and stakeholder confidence to every engagement. If you thrive on solving complex problems, facilitating high-stakes conversations, and translating ambiguity into clarity, this role is for you. Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Business Requirements & Functional Design Own requirement management for assigned projects end-to-end; proactively collaborate with senior business stakeholders to deeply understand their strategic goals, user journeys, operational challenges, and underlying business needs. Translate complex business problems and user needs into clear, comprehensive, and actionable Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs), user stories, use cases, and business rules — ensuring alignment with the product vision. Challenge assumptions, ask probing questions, and conduct in-depth analysis to uncover root causes and define optimal functional solutions, considering both user experience and operational efficiency. Develop comprehensive business cases, including ROI analysis and feasibility studies, to support proposed functional solutions and strategic recommendations. 2. Business Process Analysis & Optimization Lead the analysis and holistic mapping of current-state business processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for significant improvement across functional domains. Design and model future-state business processes and workflows using industry best practices (e.g., BPMN, Lean principles) that enhance operational efficiency, effectiveness, and user experience. Drive the implementation of process changes, monitor their impact, and work with business stakeholders to ensure successful adoption and continuous improvement. Identify and recommend at least 2 process improvements per year with documented ROI impact. 3. Functional Documentation & Knowledge Management Develop and maintain detailed, high-quality functional specifications, user stories with robust acceptance criteria, process flow diagrams, user journey maps, and data dictionaries (from a business perspective) — serving as the single source of truth for functional scope. Manage scope, change requests, and requirement traceability across the full project lifecycle; ensure all documentation supports seamless development, functional testing, and user training. Contribute to establishing and refining functional documentation standards and best practices within the BA team. 4. Stakeholder Management & Workshop Facilitation Act as the primary liaison between diverse business stakeholders (including senior management), product owners, UX/UI designers, development teams, and QA teams — ensuring clear communication, alignment, and shared understanding throughout the project lifecycle. Lead and facilitate high-stakes requirement workshops, discovery sessions, and conflict resolution discussions to gather critical functional input, build consensus, and manage competing priorities. Provide proactive, transparent stakeholder updates; anticipate needs, address concerns early, and maintain 90%+ stakeholder satisfaction consistently. 5. Agile Product Collaboration & Functional Delivery Collaborate closely with Product Owners to define product roadmaps, prioritize and refine the product backlog, and focus scope on maximum business value. Actively participate in and drive efficiency in sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives — ensuring timely delivery of high-quality, impactful functional solutions. Ensure on-time requirement delivery at 95% or above; maintain requirement approval rate of 95% consistently. 6. UI/UX Collaboration Collaborate with UI/UX designers to ensure functional requirements translate into user-centric interface and experience designs. Review wireframes, prototypes, and design artefacts for functional accuracy and alignment with business requirements. Provide structured feedback to design teams and serve as the business voice during UX validation sessions. 7. Mentorship & Team Development Mentor and guide Associate BAs and junior Business Analysts on requirement best practices, documentation standards, and structured problem-solving approaches. Review and provide constructive feedback on the work of junior team members; foster a culture of learning, quality, and continuous growth within the BA team. Contribute to the development of BA methodologies, frameworks, and organizational best practice libraries. Qualifications Must-Have: *4–8 years of progressive experience as a Business Analyst or Senior Business Analyst, demonstrating ownership of complex requirements and end-to-end functional delivery. 1-2 years of other functional (QA) or technical (development) expertise is acceptable based on overall experience. * Demonstrated expertise in complex business problem-solving — breaking down ambiguous, multi-faceted challenges into structured, actionable functional solutions. * Proven experience managing requirement scope, change requests, and traceability independently across the full project lifecycle. * Strong proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologies; active experience in sprint ceremonies, backlog management, and product collaboration. Waterfall experience is a plus. * Expertise in business process modeling techniques (e.g., BPMN, UML) and requirements management tools. * Hands-on proficiency in BA tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Visio, or Miro. * Exceptional communication, facilitation, and presentation skills — with demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership. * Experience mentoring junior BAs or guiding small BA teams is essential. Good to Have * Domain-specific experience in FinTech, E-commerce, Healthcare, or Supply Chain is a significant advantage. * Exposure to pre-sales, discovery workshops, or account-level business advisory activities. * Experience in developing business cases with ROI analysis and feasibility studies. * Familiarity with UI/UX design review and prototype validation processes. Education & Certifications: * Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field (mandatory). * MBA or equivalent post-graduate qualification (preferred). * Certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, or PMI-PBA are highly valued. * Framework compliance such as BABOK is a strong plus.
