ASSOCIATE - STRUCTURES
1) Qualifications
A minimum of 14+ years of experience in the relevant field.
Graduate/Chartered Engineer qualification required.
Proven track record as a Senior Project Engineer across multiple projects.
2) Business Development
Begin driving business growth and developing new client relationships, with annual targets to be established.
Represent the company as ambassadors.
Build and maintain relationships with clients and architects.
Act as a representative for WME during new project interviews.
Participate in the marketing and promotion of the practice.
3) Project Role
Oversee all aspects of a portfolio of projects as Project Manager, collaborating with a Project Director or Associate Director on larger, complex projects.
May take on the role of Project Engineer for certain projects.
Key responsibilities include:
Project delivery
Ensuring customer satisfaction
Managing job profitability
Handling job cash flow
Ensuring project quality
Leading multi-disciplinary or single-discipline projects
Motivating and guiding professional teams to deliver client solutions
Being commercially astute
Presenting to clients
Preparing proposals for client/project agreements with Directors
Negotiating fees and requesting additional fees when applicable
Constructing project teams from internal and external resources
Procuring project resources
Planning and managing projects
Liaising with clients, design teams, contractors, and authorities
Ensuring compliance with QA, HSE, and CDM requirements
Representing the practice on projects under their control.
4) Company Role
Lead regular team meetings and manage a team of engineers in partnership with another Associate.
Responsibilities include:
Motivating the team
Training and developing engineers
Managing day-to-day operations
Ensuring team profitability
Resource planning and management
Guiding the development of engineers and the design team
Applying policies related to health and safety, quality, and training
Conducting bi-annual performance reviews for team members
Understanding and supporting the company’s business plan, mission, and key challenges
Managing a team of 12-15 people
Contributing to the strategic direction of the business
Actively participating in the development of company procedures and task groups.
5) Engineering Function
Agree on design philosophy and fundamentals.
Review and provide feedback on deliverables produced by the team.
Demonstrate broad technical competence across all relevant areas.
In-depth knowledge of concept design, buildability, detailed design, construction techniques, procurement routes, risk assessment, and claim assessment.
Prepare drawings, calculations, and models, and review work produced by subordinates.
Possess detailed knowledge of analytical concepts.
Ensure familiarity with CAD standards and 3D working within the team.
6) HSEQ Responsibilities
Understand, implement, and adhere to WME’s HSEQ policies.
Implement and manage HSEQ procedures in the workplace.
Report any HSEQ incidents promptly to the WME HSEQ Department and to legal authorities, if necessary.
Comply with client/contractor HSEQ requirements and complete site inductions before mobilizing on-site.
