Role Overview
The Senior Associate – Strategic Communications will support Bala Vikasa’s Strategic Communications function by developing high-quality content and communication materials that strengthen the organization’s visibility, credibility, and stakeholder engagement.
Working closely with the Manager and Assistant Manager – Strategic Communications, the role will focus on translating program impact, institutional initiatives, and knowledge outputs into compelling narratives and communication assets for diverse audiences including partners, donors, participants, and the wider public.
The role will contribute to content development, marketing communication collaterals, program documentation, and media communication while ensuring consistency in messaging, editorial quality, and brand alignment across all communication outputs.
Key Responsibilities
Develop written communication content including impact stories, case studies, articles, newsletters, reports, and knowledge briefs.
Translate program activities, field insights, and institutional initiatives into clear and compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
Conduct interviews with program teams, partners, participants, and beneficiaries to capture stories and insights.
Prepare marketing and communication collaterals such as brochures, program one-pagers, presentations, information sheets, and promotional materials across channels.
Support the development of communication materials for training programs, events, conferences, and institutional initiatives.
Assist in preparing donor and stakeholder communication materials including program briefs, impact summaries, and documentation notes.
Draft press releases, media briefs, and communication responses to support media engagement.
Maintain strong editorial standards by reviewing and refining content for clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
Ensure all communication outputs align with Bala Vikasa’s brand voice, messaging frameworks, and communication guidelines.
Collaborate with multimedia production teams to convert stories and written content into visual and video formats.
Work with digital marketing teams to adapt communication content for online platforms and campaigns.
Support the preparation of communication materials for organizational announcements, campaigns, and key institutional milestones.
Maintain organized records of published content, communication outputs, and documentation materials.
Candidate Qualification
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, Development Studies, or a related field.
2–4 years of experience in communications, journalism, content development, or public relations.
Experience working with development organizations, educational institutions, social enterprises, or mission-driven organizations is desirable.
Demonstrated ability to develop clear, engaging, and high-quality written communication content.
Skills and Competencies
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
Ability to translate complex program information into accessible and engaging narratives
Experience preparing marketing communication materials and stakeholder communication assets
Understanding of editorial processes and communication workflows
Basic familiarity with media engagement and press communication
Ability to collaborate effectively with program teams, designers, and multimedia teams

Understanding of branding and message consistency across communication materials
