About Rootquotient
Rootquotient is a premier product engineering institution. We partner with ambitious organizations to build outcomes that matter. As a Project Manager, you will be the delivery heartbeat of our client projects — owning end-to-end execution, building strong client relationships, and driving quality outcomes with a high-performing, focused team.
Role Overview
The Project Manager at Rootquotient owns end-to-end delivery of medium-complexity projects autonomously and contributes to large, complex projects under guidance from a Senior PM or Delivery Manager. You are the primary client contact for your assigned projects and are directly accountable for on-time, on-budget, on-quality delivery. This role requires strong planning discipline, proactive risk management, effective stakeholder communication, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams with clarity and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Baseline Management
● Develop detailed project plans aligned with business objectives; create realistic schedules factoring in resource constraints; define clear deliverables and success criteria.
● Establish and maintain baselines for scope, schedule, and budget; track performance against baselines and implement corrective actions where needed.
● Define project scope clearly with full stakeholder alignment; prevent scope creep through a formal change control process; document all scope decisions.
2. Schedule Management & On-Time Delivery
● Create and maintain detailed project schedules; manage the critical path and identify schedule risks early.
● Track schedule performance week-on-week; implement corrective actions proactively and course-correct any deviations with guidance from Senior PM or Delivery Manager.
● Drive 95% on-time delivery for all assigned medium-complexity projects.
3. Budget & Financial Management
● Manage project budgets in coordination with the Senior PM or Delivery Manager; track utilization against budget on a monthly basis.
● Forecast final project costs; manage budget changes through the change control process; maintain budget variance within 10%.
● Develop awareness of account-level financial health; support the Delivery Manager in identifying value engineering opportunities.
4. Resource Planning & Team Coordination
● Plan resource needs for the full project duration; allocate team members effectively across tasks and workstreams.
● Manage resource conflicts and dependencies; optimize team utilization to achieve 90% efficiency across assigned projects.
● Coordinate cross-functional teams; schedule and facilitate team standups, planning sessions, and review meetings.
5. Stakeholder Management & Communication
● Establish and maintain strong stakeholder relationships; serve as the primary point of contact for assigned project clients.
● Conduct regular status reviews; manage stakeholder expectations on delivery, timeline, and quality.
● Address stakeholder concerns proactively; escalate critical issues to the leadership team with clear context and proposed resolution.
● Create weekly project status reports with metrics and KPIs; develop project dashboards and scorecards to communicate project health transparently.
6. Risk & Issue Management
● Conduct comprehensive risk identification; assess risk impact and probability; develop and maintain risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans throughout the project lifecycle.
● Identify project dependencies with other initiatives; coordinate with other Project Managers to ensure integration points are managed.
● Identify and analyze project issues; develop resolution plans; drive issue closure; escalate critical blockers to the concerned stakeholders with full documentation.
7. Quality & Delivery Excellence
● Define quality standards and acceptance criteria for all project deliverables; coordinate QA and testing activities.
● Manage defect identification and resolution; support UAT coordination; ensure zero critical defects at delivery.
● Maintain delivery discipline across all project management activities; enforce process adherence and documentation standards.
8. Agile Delivery & Process Discipline
● Master agile delivery methodologies; manage product backlog and sprint planning; facilitate daily standups and sprint ceremonies.
● Track sprint velocity and burndown; use delivery data to drive continuous improvement within the team.
● Implement Hybrid Agile, Kanban, or Scrum practices suited to project complexity and client context.
9. Solution Oversight & Technical Understanding
● Develop a clear understanding of the technical architecture and solution being built; work closely with Tech Leads to derive accurate delivery plans.
● Bridge the gap between business requirements and technical implementation; flag delivery risks arising from technical decisions.
● Coordinate with the Engineering Lead to align technical solutioning with the delivery timeline and client expectations.
10. Team Support & Growth
● Support and guide Associate Project Managers or Project Coordinators on day-to-day project execution tasks.
● Share learnings and contribute to organizational process improvement; document lessons learned for knowledge sharing.
● Demonstrate an enabling leadership style — unblocking teams and fostering accountability rather than micro-managing.
Qualifications
Must-Have:
● 4–7 years of hands-on Project Management experience, with a primary focus on digital product development (0-to-1 builds preferred over enhancements and maintenance). 1-2 years of other functional (BA/QA) or technical (development) expertise is acceptable based on overall experience.
● Proven track record of independently managing medium-complexity, cross-functional projects end-to-end with a team size of 5 to 10 for each project.
● Methodology: Expertise in Agile, Hybrid Agile, or Kanban methodologies; ability to facilitate sprint ceremonies and manage product backlogs.
● Tools: Proficiency in PM tools such as Azure DevOps, JIRA, or equivalent.
● Strong scope, schedule, budget, and risk management capability with documented outcomes.
● Technical aptitude: ability to understand architectural concepts and technical solutioning (e.g., JavaScript, Java, Mobile technologies) to support accurate delivery planning.
● Strong client-facing communication and stakeholder management skills.
● Good to have: Exposure to P&L awareness, account budget tracking, and basic financial forecasting.
● Prior experience mentoring or guiding junior team members (Associate PMs or Coordinators) would be a bonus.
Education & Certifications
● Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology. An MBA from a reputable institution is good to have (preferred).
● Industry Standards: Good to have Project Management certifications such as PMP, Prince2, CSM, or SAFe
