Job Description: ADAS Project Lead
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced ADAS Project Lead with 10+ years of expertise in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems to manage and oversee complex automotive testing and development projects. The ideal candidate will bring comprehensive knowledge of ADAS testing methodologies, homologation standards, and electronic systems development, combined with strong hands-on testing execution capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Leadership
Lead and manage ADAS projects from conception through completion, ensuring delivery within scope, timeline, and budget
Coordinate cross-functional teams including testing engineers, development teams, and external stakeholders
Define project objectives, deliverables, and success criteria aligned with customer requirements
Manage project risks, issues, and dependencies proactively
Provide regular project status updates and technical reports to senior management and clients
ADAS Testing & Validation
Oversee and execute comprehensive ADAS testing programs including functional, performance, and safety validation
Perform hands-on testing execution including test setup, vehicle instrumentation, data acquisition, and real-time test monitoring
Actively participate in test track and public road-testing activities, operating test vehicles and equipment
Design and implement test strategies for various ADAS features (ACC, LKA, AEB, BSD, etc.)
Conduct Field Operational Testing (FOT) programs to validate system performance in real-world conditions
Analyze test results and provide technical recommendations for system improvements
Ensure testing compliance with internal quality standards and industry best practices
Homologation & Standards Compliance
Ensure ADAS systems comply with relevant homologation standards and regulations (UN-ECE, FMVSS, Euro NCAP, etc.)
Apply knowledge of AIS (Automotive Industry Standard) requirements for ADAS systems in the Indian market
Lead certification and type-approval processes for ADAS systems
Stay current with evolving regulatory requirements and safety standards related to ADAS
Coordinate with regulatory bodies and certification agencies as required
Technical Expertise & Development
Apply electronics systems knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
Conduct and oversee Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) for ADAS components and systems
Support Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing setup, development, and execution
Collaborate with development teams on HIL test case creation and automation
Provide technical guidance on sensor integration, ECU calibration, and system architecture
Required Qualifications
Experience
10+ years of professional experience in automotive industry with focus on ADAS
Proven track record of leading ADAS projects successfully
Extensive hands-on experience with ADAS testing and validation
Demonstrated hands-on testing execution experience including vehicle setup, test driving, and equipment operation
Demonstrated experience with FOT testing programs
Strong background in homologation and regulatory compliance for ADAS systems
Technical Skills
Deep understanding of ADAS technologies (radar, camera, lidar, ultrasonic sensors)
Proficiency in electronics systems and automotive electrical architecture
Expert knowledge of DFMEA methodology and application
Hands-on experience with HIL testing platforms and development tools
Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, FlexRay)
Knowledge of relevant standards: ISO 26262, ISO 21448 (SOTIF), UN-ECE regulations, NCAP protocols, AIS standards (particularly AIS-140, AIS-147, and other relevant ADAS-related standards)
Practical experience with test equipment including GNSS/IMU systems, data loggers, CAN tools, and sensor calibration equipment
Professional Competencies
Strong project management skills with PMP or equivalent certification (preferred)
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work effectively in multicultural and cross-functional environments
Proficiency in English (additional languages are a plus)
Valid driver's license with clean driving record (required for test execution activities)
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in automotive engineering, Electronics / Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
Experience with test automation tools and scripting (Python, MATLAB/Simulink, CANoe)
Knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO 26262)
Experience with NCAP testing protocols (Euro NCAP, US NCAP, China NCAP)
Certification in project management (PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile/Scrum)
Previous experience working with OEMs or Tier-1 automotive suppliers
Experience with AIS homologation processes in India
Advanced vehicle dynamics knowledge and test driving certification
