Position Overview
We are growing our
Cloud Management
team within Autodesk’s
Enterprise IT
organization. This team designs, provisions, and operates
enterprise multi-cloud platforms
that enable secure, scalable, and compliant infrastructure for Autodesk’s global engineering teams.
At the center of this effort is
Infrastructure Software Automation Platform
, Autodesk’s cloud infrastructure automation system that provisions and manages cloud environments across
AWS, Azure, and GCP
. The platform enables self-service infrastructure, enforces governance and security controls, and supports critical workloads across Autodesk’s product ecosystem.
As a
Principal Software Development Engineer
on the Infrastructure Automation Team, you will define and drive the technical direction of Autodesk’s
multi-cloud infrastructure automation platform
. You will architect solutions that operate at global scale across
AWS, Azure, and GCP
, and enable hundreds of internal teams to securely consume cloud infrastructure.
This role combines
hands-on technical leadership
, architectural ownership, and cross-team influence. You will shape platform strategy while remaining deeply involved in design and implementation.
Technical Leadership & Architecture
Define and evolve the
multi-cloud architecture
of the Alfred Platform serving 100+ internal teams
Establish
engineering standards
for serverless, microservices, infrastructure automation, and observability
Drive architectural decisions for
multi-account and multi-project cloud strategies
Lead design reviews and mentor engineers on system design, code quality, and cloud best practices
Own the long-term
technical roadmap
, scalability strategy, and modernization efforts
Drive
system reliability, performance, and cost optimization
across cloud providers
Technical Execution
Architect and build complex systems for
cloud account provisioning, governance, and lifecycle management
Design large-scale
cloud-native architectures
using serverless, container, and managed services
Lead
Terraform module architecture
supporting AWS, Azure, and GCP environments
Design event-driven orchestration using cloud-native messaging and workflow services
Establish
observability standards
for logs, metrics, traces, and alerting at scale
Define and integrate
AI-assisted observability and automation
, including anomaly detection, predictive insights, and intelligent remediation workflows
Ensure AI-driven capabilities are
secure, auditable, explainable
, and aligned with compliance requirements
Lead technical debt reduction and platform modernization initiatives
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with
Security and Compliance
teams on audits, governance, and regulatory readiness
Collaborate with
SRE
teams on incident response and operational excellence
Work with Product teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
Coordinate with global engineering teams across regions
Engage with cloud provider partners on service adoption and best practices
Required Qualifications
Technical Leadership
8+ years of software development experience, with 5+ years in senior or principal-level roles
Proven experience designing and delivering
large-scale distributed systems
Strong architectural judgment with the ability to articulate trade-offs across cloud platforms
Experience mentoring engineers and leading cross-team technical initiatives
Technical Expertise
Deep experience with
at least two major cloud providers
(AWS, Azure, GCP)
Strong proficiency in
Go and Python
Advanced experience with
Terraform
and complex multi-cloud module ecosystems
Expertise in
microservices, serverless, and event-driven architectures
Strong understanding of
cloud security, identity, encryption, and compliance frameworks
Deep experience with
observability at scale
(metrics, logs, traces, alerting)
Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts and failure modes
Experience designing, operating, or governing
Kubernetes-based platforms
(EKS, AKS, GKE)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing or integrating
AI-assisted operational systems (AIOps)
Ability to evaluate when Kubernetes is appropriate versus serverless or managed services
Experience with cloud governance models and policy enforcement
Exposure to FinOps and multi-cloud cost optimization strategies
Cloud certifications across AWS, Azure, or GCP
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location.
