Role Description:
Amgen is seeking a Principal IS Architect who, along with daily systems management tasks, will support Infrastructure Operations as an Architect having primary responsibility for all activities related to the Storage & Backup Infrastructure, accountable to provide strategy & roadmaps for our enterprise-wide environment, also providing 3rd level support, ongoing improvement of processes and applying best practices for the environment, the incumbent Architect will be responsible for the design and implementation of Storage, Backup, Restore & Archive related technologies that will be introduced into the Amgen environment. This role demands the ability to drive and deliver against key organizational strategic initiatives, foster a collaborative environment, and deliver high-quality results in a matrixed organizational structure. Please note, this is an on-site role based in Hyderabad.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Support the Service Owner in the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of the technology service in an Agile environment
Ensure the service is aligned with key principles of service ownership which includes meeting the needs of the business, cost effectiveness, scalability, compliance, reliability, resilience & security.
Participates in multiple simultaneous strategic projects and large-scale initiatives including business continuity and high availability for mission critical applications
Perform necessary backup infrastructure maintenance in accordance with best practices and, Change management policies
Assist IS Engineers in process scripting/automation related to backup infrastructure, reporting, and operations
Contribute to Runbook Design, Development, and ongoing updates
Operate automation solutions and enterprise-wide scripts using tools, then recommend changes to procedures which result in operational optimization
Support the design, then implementation of relevant automation solutions that meet business requirements, are in line with defined strategies and compliance requirements, and are fiscally sound
Support projects from a technical aspect, then provide guidance that includes: reviewing scripts, playbooks, testing solutions, and providing feedback
Contribute to the development of technical standards and policies, while providing leadership in maintaining a server inventory, and system administration processes and procedures
Investigate, then resolve technical issues. Assist or lead Root Cause Analysis reviews, and support audit and security compliance issues (Amgen and government regulations)
Basic Qualifications and Experience:
Master’s degree and 12+ years of Storage & Backup Systems and Linux administration along with one or more of Ansible, Python, Bash scripting, or
Bachelor’s degree and 14+ years of Storage & Backup Systems and Linux administration along with one or more of Ansible, Python, Bash scripting,
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
10+ Years’ experience with NetApp & Dell Isilon Storage technologies
5+ Years’ experience with Rubrik Backup & Recovery
5+ Years’ experience with NetApp storage Grid
10+ Years’ experience with Cloud Technologies (AWS Preferred)
General background in Storage & Backup Life-cycle management
Solid scripting/automation skills using shell, powershell, python, Ansible
Industry Certifications and experience with or equivalent technologies
Configuration Management tools for managing public cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS, Azure )
Demonstrated experience with Windows/UNIX/Linux Operating systems
ITIL experience and managing regulated systems within Life Sciences sector
Strong working knowledge of Application Server Clustering and HA configurations, API integrations.
Solid experience in using ServiceNow
Solid grasp of TCP/IP networking fundamentals
Professional Certifications:
Management certifications (PMP, ITIL) (preferred)
NCDA (Mandatory), NCIE-DP(Preferred) , RCE (Preferred) ,

Shift Information:
