About the Role
At HARMAN, we recognize that effective collaboration and adaptability are critical elements in delivering value to our customers.
As a Principal DevOps Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert for DevOps and CI/CD practices across the organization. You will define strategy, drive innovation, and ensure best-in-class automation, scalability, and reliability of our build ecosystem.
You will influence architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and elevate DevOps maturity across teams.
What You Will Do
Define and implement best-in-class CI/CD strategies and standards
Architect scalable build and automation systems
Lead design and evolution of CI/CD infrastructure (on-prem + cloud)
Drive adoption of automation, containerization, and orchestration
Oversee Jenkins/GitHub Actions ecosystem and pipeline standardization
Guide implementation of Yocto-based systems and embedded pipelines
Establish metrics, monitoring, and performance optimization strategies
Solve highly complex integration and infrastructure challenges
Mentor engineers and act as escalation point for critical issues
Collaborate cross-functionally to align DevOps practices with business goals
Leverage AI-assisted tools strategically to improve engineering productivity and workflows
What You Need to Be Successful
Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in computer science or related field
10+ years of experience in DevOps / CI/CD
Deep expertise in CI/CD systems, automation, and infrastructure
Strong experience with Linux, Yocto, and embedded systems
Advanced knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Expert-level scripting skills (Python, Bash, Groovy)
Proven ability to design scalable and maintainable systems
Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
Bonus Points if You Have
Experience defining DevOps strategy at organizational level
Experience with large-scale distributed systems
Knowledge of additional SCM tools (Bitbucket, Perforce)
Knowledge of FOSS
Fluent English skills and exceptional communication abilities.
