Job Summary
The
Primary English Teacher
is responsible for delivering engaging English language instruction to primary-grade students, focusing on developing reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. The teacher will create a supportive learning environment that promotes literacy, creativity, and communication skills among young learners.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
Teach
English language and literature
to primary-grade students.
Develop lesson plans that enhance
reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension
skills.
Use interactive teaching strategies such as storytelling, phonics, and group activities.
Encourage creative writing and spoken communication among students.
Foster a love for reading through library and classroom activities.
Student Development
Support students in developing foundational literacy skills.
Identify learning gaps and provide additional support where required.
Encourage participation in reading programs, storytelling sessions, and language activities.
Promote confidence in speaking and expressing ideas clearly.
Curriculum & Planning
Prepare lesson plans aligned with the prescribed curriculum.
Develop worksheets, assignments, and teaching materials.
Maintain records of lesson delivery and student progress.
Collaborate with other primary teachers for integrated learning.
Assessment & Evaluation
Conduct regular assessments to evaluate reading and writing skills.
Maintain student portfolios and progress reports.
Provide constructive feedback to students and parents.
Prepare report cards and attend parent-teacher meetings.
Classroom Management
Maintain discipline and create a positive classroom environment.
Ensure student safety and engagement during lessons.
Promote values such as respect, teamwork, and responsibility.
Professional Responsibilities
Participate in staff meetings, workshops, and school events.
Stay updated with modern teaching methods and literacy programs.
Follow school policies and maintain professional conduct.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in
English / Education / Language Studies
(Mandatory).
B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification (Preferred).
Minimum
1–3 years of experience
teaching English at the primary level.
Skills & Competencies
Strong command of
spoken and written English
.
Knowledge of
phonics and early literacy development
.
Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
Ability to create engaging and child-friendly learning experiences.
Creativity in lesson delivery and activity planning.

Preferred Experience
Experience teaching
CBSE / ICSE / Cambridge / IB Primary Years Programme (PYP)
curriculum.
Experience using
