Job Summary:
The Placement Officer plays a pivotal role in fostering career opportunities for students and alumni by cultivating partnerships with employers and promoting career planning services. This position requires a proactive approach to connect students with relevant job opportunities through effective employer relations and comprehensive career development initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain productive partnerships with employers to generate employment opportunities for students and alumni.
Facilitate internships, externships, job shadowing, and campus recruitment events through strong relationships with local and national employers.
Promote Career Planning services through in-class presentations, student organization outreach, and collaboration with college support services.
Market Career Planning services to businesses, non-profits, and internal stakeholders through targeted programs, mailings, emails, and attendance at promotional events.
Assist students in identifying career paths aligned with their interests and skills, offering guidance on resume writing, interview techniques, and job search strategies.
Coordinate student interviews with prospective employers, ensuring timely follow-up and feedback.
Orient students and alumni to Career Planning resources to enhance their employability and career prospects.
Organize and participate in on-campus events such as career and internship job fairs.
Schedule and promote campus recruitment activities for employers, maintaining an updated employer database.
Contribute to the development of new experiential learning programs across college curriculums.
Pursue professional development through seminars and training opportunities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum five years of experience in job development and marketing, preferably in a higher education setting.
Strong understanding of labor market trends, employer needs, and career services best practices.
Proficiency with social media platforms and computer applications.
Excellent presentation, networking, and communication skills.
Collaborative and team-oriented working style with the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
