Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on technical leader to spearhead new product development for our premium doors portfolio. This role will lead a product development team through complete lifecycle—from concept design optimized for manufacturing/assembly (DFM/DFMA), prototyping, BoQ establishment, and standards compliance—to serving as the technical backbone for sales teams. The ideal candidate will also drive supplier development, conduct training programs, oversee quality control processes, manage customer complaints via RCM, and collaborate closely with manufacturing and installation teams to resolve field issues.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development Leadership
Lead end-to-end new product development for flush doors, veneered doors, steel doors, Fire doors, composite doors, engineered wood systems, and innovative door solutions
Apply DFM/DFMA principles to optimize designs for manufacturability, assembly efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
Develop prototypes, conduct validation testing per IS 4021, EN, ASTM standards, and iterate based on performance data
Prepare detailed BoQs, production drawings, assembly instructions, and technical documentation (DRNs, Sales Record Notes)
Establish product specifications, material selection criteria, and quality benchmarks for new launches
Technical Sales Support
Serve as primary technical authority for sales teams—providing clarifications on product specifications, customization feasibility, and performance claims
Create technical sales collateral including product datasheets, installation guides, and performance certification summaries
Support customer technical queries during tenders, site visits, and post-sale escalations
Supplier & Quality Ecosystem Management
Drive supplier development: audit capabilities, conduct on-site training on manufacturing processes, tolerances, and quality standards
Train quality control teams on inspection protocols, testing procedures, and defect identification for new products
Oversee customer complaints and field issues—lead Root Cause Management (RCM) investigations using 8D, 5-Why methodology
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to implement corrective actions, process improvements, and engineering changes (ECNs)
Work with installation teams to resolve field concerns, develop installation best practices, and create training modules
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with production, procurement, and installation teams to ensure seamless product transition from prototype to volume manufacturing.
Conduct design reviews with cross-functional stakeholders (engineering, QA, sales, manufacturing) using stage-gate process
Monitor product performance post-launch, drive continuous improvement via VAVE initiatives, and update product documentation
Qualifications & Experience
B.Tech/B.E. Mechanical Engineering (M.Tech preferred) with 10-15 years in product development, preferably doors/fenestration/building materials
Proven track record leading product development teams in DFM/DFMA, prototyping, and standards compliance (IS 4021, EN 14351, etc.)
Hands-on experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD), BOM/BoQ preparation, and prototype validation
Demonstrated expertise in supplier development, quality training, RCM/8D problem-solving, and cross-functional issue resolution
Strong exposure to doors manufacturing processes (veneer, lamination, WPC, engineered wood) and field installation challenges
Excellent communication skills for training delivery and technical sales support
Technical Skills
Essential: DFM/DFMA | CAD (SolidWorks/Creo/AutoCAD) | BoQ/BOM | Prototyping | RCM/8D | Supplier Quality Management | Standards (IS/EN/ASTM)
Preferred: VAVE | Stage-Gate Process | PLM/SAP | Six Sigma Green Belt
