Job Summary:
The Manager – Direct Tax will oversee comprehensive direct tax compliance, assessments, tax reporting, advisory, and litigation support. The role requires strong expertise in replying to income‑tax notices within statutory timelines, maintaining a robust compliance tracker, and ensuring 100% accuracy and timeliness across all direct tax activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Direct Tax Compliance
Prepare and review
corporate income tax returns (ITR‑6)
.
Ensure compliance with all requirements under the
Income Tax Act, 1961
, including:
Return filing (Sec 139)
Verification (Sec 140)
Advance tax (Sec 208–211)
TDS payments & returns (Sec 192–194 series)
Manage TDS/TCS monthly payments and quarterly returns (Form 24Q, 26Q, 27Q).
Reconcile Form 26AS, AIS, and TIS with tax records.
Ensure compliance with
Form 15CA/CB
, and other direct tax rules.
2. Compliance Tracker Management
Maintain a comprehensive
Direct Tax Compliance Tracker
covering:
All statutory due dates (TDS, ITR, Advance Tax, Tax Audit, TP filings).
Tracking of notices, deadlines, and submission statuses.
Ensure
no lapses
in compliance through timely alerts, follow‑ups, and coordination.
Present compliance dashboards to management regularly.
3. Tax Audit & Statutory Reporting
Prepare/review
Form 3CD
and associated annexures.
Ensure compliance with
ICDS
.
Support statutory, internal, and tax audit requirements.
4. Income‑Tax Notices, Assessments & Litigation
Draft and submit timely responses
to all types of notices including:
143(1), 143(2), 142(1)
148 (Reassessment)
133(6), 131 (Information/Summons)
245 (Set-off), CPC communications
Manage e‑proceeding submissions with end‑to‑end documentation.
Support consultants and legal teams during assessments and hearings.
5. Transfer Pricing Compliance
Assist in preparation of
Local File
documentation.
Ensure compliance with
Form 3CEB
and related TP requirements.
6. Advisory & Tax Planning
Advise business units on tax implications of contracts, transactions, and new initiatives.
Analyze updates from Finance Acts, CBDT notifications, and judicial rulings.
Support compliant tax‑planning strategies.
7. Financial Reporting
Prepare quarterly and annual
tax provisions
under AS.
Review and reconcile current and deferred tax workings.
Support financial audits with tax‑related schedules and documentation.
Required Qualifications:
Chartered Accountant (CA) / CA Inter.
Master of Commerce (M.Com) with strong, hands-on experience in Goods and Services Tax (GST) compliance and related filings.
Required Skills:
Strong expertise in
Income Tax Act, 1961
, Rules, and portal functionalities.
Proven ability to respond to IT notices and manage assessments.
Strong analytical skills and drafting ability.
Proficiency in Excel, Tally Prime, and tax systems.
Ability to maintain structured compliance trackers and meet strict deadlines.
Preferred Industry Experience:
10+ Years Experience in corporate tax roles or leading CA/consulting firms.
Exposure to
FinTech industry
, such as:
Payments companies
NBFC‑FinTech’s
Lending tech platforms
Digital banking/neo‑banking
Wealth‑tech or investment‑tech companies
Understanding of tax implications specific to FinTech models (TDS on digital payments, platform‑based income structures, cross‑border digital services, etc.).
Experience in fast‑paced, high‑compliance, technology‑driven environments.
