Job Summary: About the Role The Accounting Operations Manager – MDM, Governance & M&A leads a team responsible for Master Data Management (MDM), Chart of Accounts and reconciliation governance, as well as corporate M&A accounting operations. This role combines hands-on oversight of critical accounting processes with people leadership, ensuring data integrity, close accuracy, and cross-functional collaboration across global finance teams. The manager directly supervises the Senior Accountant and serves as the escalation point for MDM and M&A-related issues. Job Description: Essential Responsibilities: Lead several process workstreams through explorations, gap analysis, integration planning, execution, and problem solving Identify finance-related risks and partner with cross-functional teams to mitigate the identified risks Discuss finance/accounting concepts with others across the organization Lead and drive execution of plans and influence where you do not have direct authority through strong interpersonal skills Proactively engage, evaluate, and drive resolution of potential conflicts between various Finance and non-Finance functions Manage multiple workstreams simultaneously Work collaboratively with workstream leads and subject matter experts to arrive at risk-based approaches related to tactical execution steps Comfort with problem solving and creative solutioning Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications : Key Responsibilities     Master Data Projects & Blackline Governance – Oversight   Review and approve MDM requests for GL accounts/ GL hierarchy updates  Oversee and review GL Master data checklist for new accounts and reviewers  Lead Chart of Accounts Governance improvement project workstreams (including but not limited to: System enhancements in SAP/MDM space, Process optimizations, Stakeholder management and training)   Oversee accounts updated using the Data Steward Role in MDM   Drive Blackline continuous improvements execution, including ledger and team structure and custom field updates   Partner with Blackline system teams and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver project milestones on time  Reconciliation governance: review the materials for leadership readout and present the monthly results to Senior Director, Accounting Operations  Oversee SAP FX Revaluation variants for Monetary General Ledger account   M&A Accounting Oversight   Supervise corporate M&A accounting activities including new acquisitions, entity mergers and closures  Coordinate with M&A integration teams and provide accounting guidance on entity transitions   Maintain standardized processes and controls documentation across MDM and M&A functions   Communicate proactively with leadership on status, escalations, and process improvements  People Leadership & Team Development   Directly supervise the Senior Accountant – Governance & M&A; provide coaching, feedback, and performance guidance  Delegate tasks effectively, manage workload distribution, and provide backup coverage planning  Identify skill gaps and support team development through training and stretch assignments  Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement    Qualifications   Required:   Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA/CA/CMA preferred)  7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role  Strong working knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM) processes, including OIM, hierarchy management, and GL setup  Experience with Blackline or similar close/reconciliation management platforms  Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a global, fast-paced environment      Preferred:   Prior experience supporting M&A accounting, entity integrations, or corporate accounting in a multinational environment  Familiarity with ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and data steward roles  Experience with SAP FX Revaluation and multi-currency GL accounting in a global environment  Experience leading or contributing to system implementation or Blackline enablement projects  Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail and data accuracy  Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional and global stakeholder management    Competencies   Leadership – develops and empowers team members; sets clear expectations and follows through  Accountability – owns outcomes across MDM, M&A, and governance functions end-to-end  Strategic Thinking – connects day-to-day operations to broader business objectives and project goals  Collaboration – builds trusted relationships across Finance, Systems, Tax, and M&A teams  Process Excellence – drives consistency, control, and improvement across accounting workflows  Communication – effectively manages upward, downward, and cross-functional correspondence  Subsidiary: PayPal Travel Percent: 0 PayPal does not charge candidates any fees for courses, applications, resume reviews, interviews, background checks, or onboarding.
