Role Summary
• To operate conventional lathe and milling machines for precision machining of components as per engineering drawings, quality standards, and production schedules, ensuring safe work practices at all times.
Responsibilities:
Machine Operation
• Set up and operate conventional lathes and milling machines as per job requirements.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and job instructions.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for different materials.
Quality Control
• Inspect machined components using measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges, and dial indicators.
• Ensure parts meet dimensional and surface finish specifications.
• Record inspection results and maintain proper documentation.
Maintenance & Housekeeping
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on machines and tools.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and free from hazards.
Safety Compliance
• Follow all safety guidelines, including PPE usage and safe machine operation.
• Report unsafe conditions or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
Continuous Improvement
• Suggest process improvements to enhance productivity and quality.
• Participate in training programs to upgrade skills.
Requirements:
• ITI Turner / ITI Machinist OR completion of a full-term apprenticeship.
• ITI with apprenticeship completion can apply.
• 2–5 years of experience in conventional lathe and milling operations is preferred.
• Knowledge of machining principles, cutting tools, and material properties.
• Candidate can read and speak Kannada.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with measuring instruments and quality standards.
• Physical & Work Requirements
• Ability to stand for long periods.
