The
Lead/Senior Engineer – BESS
will spearhead and establish our Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) division and play a strategic role in defining technical frameworks, guiding project execution, and nurturing a high-performing team of engineers. This position is ideal for professionals with strong experience in
renewable energy project delivery in the US market
, including a sound understanding of local standards and grid connection frameworks.
What you can expect as Lead/Senior Engineer – BESS at Illumine-i:
You’ll lead the engineering design and delivery of utility-scale and C&I
Solar and BESS projects
You’ll ensure all designs comply with
US Standards
, grid codes, and local regulatory requirements
You’ll coordinate with internal teams, EPCs, consultants, and utilities to ensure seamless execution
You’ll oversee preparation of single-line diagrams (SLDs), layouts, protection studies, and connection documentation
You’ll support project development, permitting, and due diligence processes
You’ll provide technical leadership during project execution, commissioning, and handover
You’ll stay up-to-date with evolving industry standards, AEMO/DNSP requirements, and best practices in clean energy engineering
Essential Qualifications include:
5+ years of hands-on experience in
Solar PV + BESS engineering
Deep knowledge of
US Standards
Proven experience in power system design, energy storage integration, and grid connection
Familiarity with
AEMO, DNSP
processes, and grid application procedures
Proficient in tools like AutoCAD, PowerFactory, ETAP, PVsyst, or similar
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering or related field
CPEng or RPEQ accreditation (or in progress) is desirable
Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination skills
Great to have:
Background in financial modeling of BESS ROI, LCOE, and CapEx/OpEx optimization.
