Automation QA Engineer

Role Summary
We are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer with 5+ years of experience to own and scale our test automation capabilities at Softobiz. You will lead the design, development, and maintenance of automation frameworks using Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript), covering end-to-end, API, UI, and security testing for complex web applications — with a strong emphasis on integrating AI-driven testing approaches and tooling into the QA practice.
This role exists to strengthen our QA engineering practice and bring a more rigorous, automated approach to quality across our delivery portfolio. You will work closely with developers, product managers, and QA teams to ensure that quality is built into every stage of the delivery cycle — from requirement analysis through to production release. Your security testing expertise combined with hands-on AI implementation experience will be critical in identifying vulnerabilities, accelerating test coverage, and ensuring application compliance with industry-standard security benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities
Automation Framework & Development
Architect, develop, and maintain scalable automation test frameworks using Playwright with JavaScript/TypeScript.
Perform comprehensive end-to-end testing for web applications, covering regression, smoke, functional, and integration test suites.
Automate complex business workflows and validate critical application functionality across multiple environments.
Ensure test scripts are modular, maintainable, and aligned with best practices in code quality and version control.
Security & API Testing
Identify, document, and validate security vulnerabilities following OWASP Top 10 and other relevant benchmarks.
Conduct API testing including request/response validation, schema verification, authentication testing, and load-based checks using tools such as Postman or REST-assured equivalents in Playwright.
Work with developers and security teams to validate fixes and verify application security measures post-remediation.
Integrate security testing steps within CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous security validation.
Collaboration & Quality Process
Partner closely with developers and QA teams to identify, track, triage, and resolve defects in a timely manner.
Participate in requirement analysis, test planning, and test strategy discussions from the early stages of project delivery.
Contribute to Agile/Scrum ceremonies — sprint planning, estimation, daily standups — and maintain test case and automation coverage aligned to sprint goals.
AI Integration & Innovation
Leverage AI-powered tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, AI-based test generation, self-healing locators) to accelerate test script development and framework maintenance.
Evaluate and implement AI/ML-driven testing approaches such as intelligent test selection, anomaly detection in test results, and predictive defect analysis.
Explore and pilot AI-assisted security testing methodologies to enhance vulnerability detection coverage.
Stay current with emerging AI tooling in the QA space and proactively recommend adoption of tools that improve team efficiency and test coverage.
Reporting & Documentation
Prepare, maintain, and distribute automation test reports, execution summaries, and coverage dashboards.
Document test plans, test strategies, and framework architecture to ensure continuity and onboarding efficiency.
Proactively flag quality risks and test gaps to the delivery team and QA Lead.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
8+ years of hands-on experience in software testing and QA, with at least 3–4 years focused on automation engineering.
Demonstrated experience owning an automation framework — not just contributing to one.
Strong AI exposure and implementation experience — practical use of AI tools in a QA or engineering context (e.g., AI-assisted test generation, LLM-based scripting, intelligent test tooling).
Prior exposure to client-facing or multi-geography delivery environments is an advantage.
Preferred Certifications:
ISTQB Advanced Level – Test Automation Engineer
Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) or equivalent (advantageous for security-focused candidates)
Any recognized cloud certification (AWS/Azure) is a plus
