Job Summary
The
IBDP Biology Facilitator
is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching of
IB Diploma Programme Biology (SL & HL)
in alignment with the standards of the
International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO)
. The facilitator will promote scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and experimental skills while preparing students for internal and external IB assessments.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
Teach
IBDP Biology (SL & HL)
as per IB curriculum requirements.
Develop engaging lesson plans using inquiry-based learning methods.
Deliver practical laboratory sessions aligned with IB standards.
Encourage scientific thinking, research skills, and data analysis.
Integrate real-world biological applications into classroom teaching.
Assessment & Evaluation
Design formative and summative assessments as per IB guidelines.
Guide students in completing
Internal Assessments (IA)
and lab reports.
Prepare students for IB external examinations.
Maintain accurate academic records and provide constructive feedback.
Monitor student progress and provide support where needed.
Laboratory & Practical Management
Plan and conduct Biology laboratory experiments safely and effectively.
Ensure proper use, maintenance, and safety of laboratory equipment.
Follow laboratory safety procedures and IB experimental standards.
Maintain laboratory documentation and records.
Curriculum & Planning
Plan units aligned with IB Biology syllabus requirements.
Collaborate with IB faculty for interdisciplinary learning.
Stay updated with IB Biology curriculum updates.
Maintain documentation required for IB evaluations.
Student Support
Mentor students in research and project-based learning.
Guide students for
Extended Essays (Biology)
where applicable.
Encourage ethical research and scientific integrity.
Professional Responsibilities
Attend IB workshops and professional development programs.
Participate in staff meetings and school academic activities.
Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and staff.
Uphold school policies and IB standards.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in
Biology / Life Sciences / Biotechnology
(Mandatory).
B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification (Preferred).
IB training or certification in Biology (Preferred).
Minimum
2–3 years of experience
teaching
IBDP Biology
or an equivalent international curriculum.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of biological sciences and laboratory practices.
Familiarity with IB assessment structure and evaluation methods.
Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
Strong laboratory management and safety skills.
Ability to use digital tools and simulations for teaching Biology.
Ability to foster inquiry-based and concept-driven learning.
Preferred Experience
Experience guiding
Extended Essays (Biology)
.
Experience managing
Internal Assessments (IA)
.
Exposure to international curricula such as IB or Cambridge (IGCSE).
