Job Summary
Ugaoo is hiring for a Horticulturist for its warehouse operations to oversee plant care, cultivation, and health management of nursery stock. The role involves managing propagation, potting, pruning, staking, and conducting regular inspections for pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies while implementing effective plant care practices. Responsibilities also include monitoring irrigation systems, soil conditions, inventory management, plant labelling, and ensuring plants are maintained in optimal condition for storage and dispatch.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Care & Cultivation: Manage the lifecycle of plants, including propagation (seeds, cuttings, and grafting), potting, pruning, and staking.
Health Monitoring: Conduct daily inspections for pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies. Implement Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies.
Environmental Control: Monitor and adjust irrigation systems, soil pH, and greenhouse climate controls (temperature, humidity, and ventilation).
Inventory Management: Track stock levels, ensure plants are correctly labelled with botanical and common names, and organise displays to optimise plant health and aesthetics.
Technical Advice: Provide expert consultations to customers or landscape contractors regarding plant selection, soil requirements, and long-term maintenance.
Research & Development: Stay updated on new cultivars, sustainable growing techniques, and drought-tolerant species relevant to the local climate.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field.
Mini Experience of 1 year as a Horticulturist.
Strong knowledge of Indoor and ornamental plants.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Proficient in computer applications related to horticulture.
