The Payroll ( HCM & ECP ) Lead is responsible for:
1. Solution Ownership (Functional Lead Role)
Own the entire HCM / ECP module landscape.
Drive requirement workshops, collect business needs, and convert them into Business requirement documents.
Make sure the solution aligns with best practices, country rules, and system limitations
.
2. Design & Configuration Leadership
Review and guide configuration done by the team.
Take decisions on:
Wage type modeling
Pay scale structures
Time schemas/PCR decisions
Payroll schema modifications
OM/PA design
Payroll Control center
Ensure proper integration across PA → OM → Time → Payroll → FI.
3. Integration + Technical Coordination+ Data replication
Configure
EC to ECP replication
(BIB/P2P/ CPI)
Handle
infotype replication
and mapping
ABAP team → enhancements, user exits
FI team → Payroll posting
Security → Roles & authorizations
Basis → Transport management
4. Testing Management
Drive UT, SIT, UAT planning.
Create and review test scenarios.
Ensure defect tracking, retesting, and closure.
Ensure monthly/year-end testing for payroll calendars.
5. Cutover & Migration (ECC → S/4HANA or Go-live)
Define cutover plan for HCM data:
OM
PA
Time data
Payroll clusters
Manage simplification checklists (S/4HANA).
Validate migration loads using
LSMW/BAPI or any other tools
Execute go-live readiness checks.
6. Compliance & Statutory Requirements
Ensure compliance for PF, ESIC, PT, LWF, Income Tax, etc.
Validate periodic statutory changes (India/South Africa/other payrolls).
7. Governance & Stakeholder Communication
Conduct weekly steering committee meetings.
Highlight risks, issues, dependencies, and mitigation plans.
Report milestone status to management.
8. Continuous Improvement
Identify automation areas (HR Forms, workflows, analytics).
Recommend new SAP features (Fiori apps for HCM, HR Renewal, ESS/MSS).
9. Technical Skills
SAP Employee Central Payroll (ECP)
Strong knowledge of SAP HCM Payroll
Schema & PCR configuration
BIB / CPI integration knowledge
Payroll posting to FI
Debugging payroll (wage types, RT, CRT)
10.Functional Skills
Strong payroll process knowledge
Country-specific payroll expertise (India / South Africa / Middle East etc.)
Payroll reconciliation and auditing
Parallel payroll testing
