About UrbanPiper:
UrbanPiper is a SaaS platform powering the digital backbone of restaurants worldwide — headquartered in INDIA with subsidiaries in the UAE, UK, and US. We work with thousands of brands across four jurisdictions, and our finance function runs lean, deliberate, and increasingly automated.
What This Role Actually Is:
This is an execution-first role. You'll spend your first six months mastering UrbanPiper's four-entity close cycle and owning the variance MIS that leadership relies on every month. As you earn trust through reliable delivery, the role grows into business analytics and — for the right person — contributes to the internal finance tools we're building.
This is not a strategy seat or a rotation program. It's a builder's seat with a clear path forward, on a small finance team where you'll have unusually high ownership and access for your level of experience.
What You'll Do:
FP&A Core
(your seat, from Day 1)
Support AOP construction and quarterly refresh — building, sanity-checking, partnering with Regional heads on assumptions
Own variance analysis (actuals vs budget vs prior period) with clear written commentary on drivers, risks, and opportunities — not just numbers, the story behind them
Maintain and enhance MIS dashboards in Google Sheets for monthly leadership reviews
Investor reporting and data-room support — questionnaires, monthly/quarterly MIS, board pack inputs, FEMA and regulatory queries
Run ad-hoc financial analysis for management asks and one-off leadership questions
Growth Path Within the Role:
The role is sequenced deliberately. Each phase is earned through performance, not promised on day one — and that's by design.
Phase 2 (Months 3–6):
Business Analytics
SaaS metric ownership — MRR/ARR walks, NRR, GRR, churn, cohort analysis
Geographic P&L splits and per-customer / per-product profitability
Business partnering with Regional heads — bringing a finance lens to business reviews
Phase 3 (Months 6+):
Data & Tooling
For the curious: contribute to Atlance, UrbanPiper's internal finance analytics platform built in SQL, Python, and React. Work alongside the Finance Manager on dashboards, queries, and module design. This is optional, available only if you want it, and is a genuine differentiator for finance careers in modern SaaS.
What You Need to Succeed:
Bachelor's degree minimum; CA, CMA, MBA Finance, or equivalent quantitative discipline preferred
1–3 years of relevant finance experience — accounting, FP&A, audit, or similar
Strong Excel and Google Sheets — comfortable with lookups, pivots, model-building, dynamic ranges
Automation-first mindset — comfort with SQL, Python, or scripting; you'll be expected to remove repetitive work, not just complete it
Solid grasp of P&L mechanics, budget-vs-actuals discipline, and accrual-basis thinking
Sharp attention to detail and the discipline to double-check your own work
Clear written communication — variance commentary is half-numbers, half-prose
Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to make progress without perfect instructions
Genuine curiosity about why numbers move, not just what they say
What Sets You Apart:
Exposure to SaaS metrics and recurring-revenue accounting
Familiarity with Zoho Books, Stripe, Salesforce, Pazy, or Ramp
Multi-entity, multi-currency accounting experience
Prior experience in a small finance team or startup environment
