ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a capable and detail-driven Finance Associate to join our Accounts team. This is a core finance operations role, suited for someone with a solid grounding in accounting principles, journal entries, and reconciliation — backed by hands-on experience in MIS management and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently across the AR cycle, books closure activities, and data analysis, while also possessing working knowledge of GST and TDS — not for compliance ownership, but to facilitate accurate reconciliation and matching in day-to-day operations.
This role requires someone who is as comfortable with numbers as they are with presenting findings — someone who can not only prepare reports but also interpret them, identify patterns, and communicate insights to the Finance Manager and senior leadership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS (KRAS)
Accounting & Journals
Independently manage day-to-day accounting operations — posting accurate journal entries, managing ledgers, and ensuring books reflect true financial position at all times.
Accounts Receivable
Own the AR cycle — invoice tracking, receipts posting, ledger maintenance, aging review, and periodic reconciliation of customer accounts.
Books Closure
Lead month-end and year-end closing activities including preparation of schedules, accrual postings, adjustment entries, and finalisation of trial balance.
Reconciliation & Matching
Perform ledger reconciliations, bank reconciliations, inter-company matching, and compliance-driven matching (GST/TDS) to ensure accuracy and clean books.
MIS Management
Own the preparation, maintenance, and timely delivery of MIS reports — weekly, monthly, and quarterly — aligned to management requirements.
Financial Analysis
Analyse financial data to surface trends, variances, and anomalies; prepare commentary and present findings to the Finance Manager.
Report Preparation
Prepare structured financial reports, trackers, and dashboards for internal stakeholders covering AR performance, cash flow, and ledger health.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting & Accounts Receivable
Independently post and review journal entries across all categories — sales, receipts, accruals, prepayments, provisions, adjustments, and reclassifications.
Maintain and manage the accounts receivable ledger — track invoices raised, monitor receipts, and ensure accurate posting to the correct cost centres.
Conduct periodic AR aging analysis and proactively flag overdue accounts to the reporting manager.
Perform customer ledger reconciliation and resolve discrepancies in coordination with internal teams.
Books Closure & Period-End Activities
Lead month-end and year-end closing — prepare and post closing entries, review open items, and ensure books are clean and complete before closure.
Coordinate with relevant teams to ensure all transactions are captured within the reporting period.
Identify and resolve open items, un-reconciled entries, and mismatches prior to finalising books.
Reconciliation & Compliance Matching
Perform bank reconciliation, ledger-to-ledger reconciliation, and inter-company account matching on a regular basis.
Use GST data (GSTR-2B) and TDS records (Form 26AS) as matching references to validate ledger entries and identify discrepancies — not for compliance filing.
Investigate and resolve reconciliation variances, document findings, and escalate unresolved items appropriately.
MIS Management, Reporting & Analysis
Own the MIS calendar — prepare and deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on schedule without reminders.
Design and maintain structured financial dashboards and trackers covering AR health, cash collections, outstanding balances, and ledger status.
Analyse financial data to identify trends, month-on-month variances, and anomalies — and prepare concise written commentary for management review.
Assist in prepaqration of ad hoc financial reports and analysis as requested by the Finance Manager or senior leadership.
Continuously improve MIS templates and reporting formats for greater clarity, speed, and insight value.
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Accounting & Bookkeeping
Strong command of double-entry bookkeeping, ledger management, trial balance preparation, and books closure processes.
Journal Entries
Proficiency in posting and reviewing all types of journal entries — sales, purchases, accruals, prepayments, provisions, reclassifications, and adjustments.
AR Management
Experience managing the accounts receivable cycle — invoicing, receipts, aging analysis, and customer ledger reconciliation.
MIS & Reporting
Demonstrated ability to independently own MIS calendars, prepare structured reports, and present finance data in a clear and actionable format.
Financial Analysis
Ability to analyse financial statements and operational data — identify trends, explain variances, and produce written commentary for management review.
Reconciliation
Skilled in bank reconciliation, ledger reconciliation, inter-company matching, and compliance-driven matching using GST/TDS data as a reference tool.
Zoho Books / ERP
Working proficiency in Zoho Books or equivalent ERP (SAP, Oracle, Tally) for entry posting, report generation, and ledger review.
MS Excel
Advanced Excel skills — pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, nested formulas, dynamic dashboards, and financial modelling basics.
GST & TDS Awareness
Working knowledge of GST and TDS provisions — sufficient to perform reconciliation, identify mismatches, and coordinate resolution. Not a compliance role.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education
B.Com (Hons.) / B.Com; MBA in Finance (strongly preferred)
Experience
1–2 years in a finance operations, accounts, or similar role with hands-on exposure to accounting, MIS, and reconciliation

Working knowledge of GST and TDS — for reco and matching purposes; full compliance ownership not required
