Job Description
Position Summary
The Engineering manager – IT leads software engineering capability teams within GEBS, with end‑to‑end accountability for people leadership, delivery outcomes, and engineering excellence. This role builds high‑performing teams, embeds strong engineering and delivery practices, and ensures predictable, high‑quality technology solutions that support business priorities. The position requires a balance of technical depth, people leadership, stakeholder partnership, and disciplined execution expected of an enterprise IT team manager.
Your Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop software engineering teams, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, continuous improvement, and learning
Own people leadership responsibilities including performance management, talent development, succession planning, and engagement
Partner with business and IT stakeholders to align priorities, clarify scope, manage expectations, and ensure delivery commitments are achievable and met
Provide technical leadership oversight by guiding solution design, reviewing approaches, and ensuring adherence to engineering standards
Establish delivery discipline through effective planning, estimation, prioritization, and execution across the software development lifecycle
Own delivery outcomes for the team, ensuring you meet commitments on time, within scope, and at the expected quality levels.
Identify delivery risks, dependencies, and constraints, and drive timely mitigation through collaboration and informed decision‑making
Ensure transparent communication of delivery status, milestones, risks, and impacts to partners and leadership
Improve team productivity and effectiveness through reviews, retrospectives, and process optimization
Build a collaborative and inclusive team environment while constructively managing conflicts and challenges
Deliver solutions that enable teams to clearly understand business context, product domain, architectural direction, and their value.
The Essentials – You Will Have
10+ years of experience growing from hands‑on technical roles into lead roles in the Information Technology space
Experience across Data Platforms, Cloud, ERP, QA, and Application Development
Experience in leading and managing the delivery of system/software development teams in a structured environment
Solid problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking abilities
Develop, implement, and assess performance metrics
Strong facilitation and coaching skills
Temperament
To and assist colleagues through change and support change‑management processes
Team orientation and ability to collaborate with business and IT organisations
Ability to retain and convey a positive attitude in challenging circumstances
Acts courageously by sharing viewpoints openly and directly, providing relevant and timely information and feedback
