We're building AGS's AI Engineering team from the ground up, and we need a people leader to help us scale. The
Engineering Manager, AI Solutions
owns team health, delivery capacity, and career development for our India-based engineering team. This is fundamentally a people management role. Technical direction comes from the Head of AI Engineering and the Lead AI Solutions Engineer. Your job is to enable your team to do their best work—hiring great people, removing blockers, developing careers, and building a high-performance engineering culture. You'll manage a team that includes AI Solutions Engineers, AI Quality Engineers, and AI Solutions Analysts—starting with a small team and scaling to 20+. Together, this team builds intelligent agents, conversational interfaces, and reusable AI capabilities for AGS's global clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development
Build and lead a high-performing engineering team (scaling to 20+)
Own hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development
Conduct regular 1:1s, provide coaching, and create growth opportunities
Foster a culture of ownership, learning, and engineering excellence
Partner with the Lead AI Solutions Engineer to ensure engineers have the technical support they need
Delivery Management
Ensure predictable delivery against committed timelines
Manage capacity planning, workload distribution, and resource allocation
Track team health metrics and drive continuous improvement
Remove blockers and escalate issues before they become problems
Balance delivery pressure with sustainable pace
Hiring & Team Building
Execute our hiring philosophy: hire for software engineering fundamentals, not certifications
Build a team with complementary skills across AI/ML, data engineering, platform, and full-stack development
Run effective interview processes and make strong hiring decisions
Onboard new team members and set them up for success
Stakeholder Coordination
Partner with Head of AI Engineering on priorities and roadmap
Coordinate with business stakeholders on delivery expectations
Communicate team status, risks, and accomplishments to leadership
Work across time zones with North America leadership (US Eastern overlap required)
Operational Excellence
Establish and refine team processes (agile ceremonies, code review, deployment)
Drive adoption of engineering best practices and standards
Manage team budget and resource planning
Ensure compliance with AGS governance and security requirements
The Team You'll Lead
AI Solutions Engineers
— Build Foundation Layer capabilities (APIs, services) and deliver agent solutions. Career track runs from Engineer → Senior → Lead → Architect. Strong software engineering fundamentals required across all levels.
AI Quality Engineers
— Design testing strategies for AI systems. Focus on behavioral testing for non-deterministic outputs.
AI Solutions Analysts
— Bridge business needs and technical implementation. Own requirements, conversation design, and stakeholder coordination.
Required
7+ years in technology roles, with 3+ years in engineering management
Proven track record of building and leading engineering teams (10+ people)
Experience with agile/scrum delivery methodologies
Strong hiring skills—you've built teams, not just inherited them
Excellent communication skills, especially with distributed/remote teams
Comfort working across time zones (overlap with US Eastern required)
Preferred
Experience managing teams that build AI/ML applications or intelligent automation
Background in Microsoft technologies (Power Platform, Azure)
Experience in staffing, HR tech, or workforce management
Familiarity with conversational AI or agent development
Previous experience in a matrixed, global organization
