Graduate Engineering Intern– Roles & Responsibilities

Duration: Fixed Term Internship (2-6 months)
Permanent Role: PPO based on performance.
Trainees will gain structured exposure across:
Engineering Design (Electrical/Civil/Signalling):
Basic design concepts, drawings, BOQs
Project Execution (Site – OHE/Track/Signalling):
Site activities, supervision, progress tracking
Project Management Office (PMO):
Planning, scheduling, MIS reporting
Procurement & Vendor Management:
Material planning, RFQs, vendor coordination
Quality Management System (QMS):
Documentation, audits, compliance
Environment, Health & Safety (EHS):
Safety practices, site compliance
Planning & Billing (Revenue Assurance):
Measurement sheets, billing cycles
Operations Coordination:
Inter-department alignment and execution tracking
1. Technical & Engineering Understanding
Develop foundational knowledge in:
Railway systems (OHE, Track, Signalling basics)
Engineering drawings and layouts
BOQ (Bill of Quantities) and specifications
Project lifecycle (Design → Procurement → Execution → Commissioning)
2. Site Execution Support
Assist in day-to-day site activities and supervision
Monitor work progress and report deviations
Support engineers in ensuring quality and timelines
Coordinate with contractors and site teams
3. Planning & Tracking
Support preparation of:
Work schedules
Daily/weekly progress reports
Track milestones, delays, and dependencies
Assist in updating project dashboards
4. Data Analysis & Reporting
Collect and analyze site/project data
Prepare:
MIS reports
Progress trackers
Status updates
Highlight risks, delays, and key observations
5. Documentation & Compliance
Maintain:
Site records
Inspection reports
Checklists
Ensure adherence to:
Quality standards (QMS)
Safety guidelines (EHS)
6. Cross-Functional Coordination
Work with:
Design, procurement, and execution teams
Ensure timely information flow
Support coordination between site and head office
7. Problem Solving & Improvement
Identify site-level challenges or inefficiencies
Suggest practical solutions
Support implementation of improvements
8. Stakeholder Interaction
Communicate with:
Site engineers
Reporting managers
Provide updates on progress and issues
9. Learning & Development
Participate in:
Technical trainings
On-site learning sessions
Build understanding of:
Railway EPC projects
Tools and systems used
