Summary:
Controls Design Engineer with expertise in generator control systems, generator selection, and control panel design compliant with Low Voltage Directive for island and parallel grid operations. Skilled in developing synchronization and load-sharing solutions and driving product development for stationary PowerGen applications through gated quality processes across EMEA & APAC regions. Experienced in creating detailed schematics and wiring diagrams within NPI and change management frameworks. Strong collaborator with suppliers, production, assembly, and procurement teams to ensure seamless support from design through to manufacturing.
Required Skills:
Expertise in designing
control panels
, including detailed knowledge of components, calculations related to heat, load, cable routing, and
generator
specifications.
Good knowledge of System development, Compliance and Safety, Design optimization and reliability engineering.
Knowledge of ERP systems, preferably
SAP
,
Windchill
and drafting in
Eplan Electric P8
would be an added advantage.
Role Requirements:
Basic understanding of
Gensets
and peripheral devices &
Diesel Engines
Control system design
of stationary applications, majorly Gensets up to 1000 kVA especially for EMEA region
Good understanding of CE and other safety compliance for Low Voltage applications
Switchgear and component selection, type characteristic of the component
System Development
Genset control system understanding and selection especially for some like Deif, Deepsea, Basler or Comap
CAN based communication between ECU & Genset controller
Modbus & TCP/IP protocols for data transfer or BMS
Power Cable, CT selection, voltage regulator integration with Genset control system
Selection of Generator for fixed frequencies 50 or 60 Hz
Understanding of disconnecting switches especially MCB and MCB till 1600 A.
Selection of DC systems especially Battery, cables, DC alternator, starter motors, battery chargers, etc.
Compliance and Safety
Ensure designs meet
international electrical standards
and safety regulations especially for CE
Understanding of design methodologies like DFMEA and product safety like HARA
Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective measures.
Design Optimization
Expertise in
reducing wiring complexity
and improving maintainability through modular design
Ability to calculate electrical loads, short-circuit currents, and voltage drops
Apply
value engineering principles
to balance cost with performance
Reliability Engineering
Designing redundancy and fail-safe mechanisms
Performing fault tree analysis and reliability-centered design
Exposure to design validation and
factory acceptance testing (FAT)
Experience with Eplan P8 tool experience with macros creation, assemblies, place holder objects
& layouts 2D and 3D creation
, report generation, generating BOMs, terminal & cable overviews, and other necessary documentation
Analyze, document and communicate end to end process documentation to stake holders
An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking

Good written and verbal communication skills
