Job Summary
Skylark Drones is looking for a Drone Hardware Engineer to design, build, and certify drone platforms that are reliable, scalable, and compliant with regulatory standards. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy working at the intersection of mechanical design, electronics, and aviation-grade compliance.
You will work closely with the Founders Office, software, and systems teams to develop drone hardware that meets performance, safety, and certification requirements. A key part of this role is contributing to the type certification process and ensuring that hardware designs are production-ready and compliant.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop drone hardware including airframes, propulsion systems, avionics, and payload integration
Work on detailed mechanical and electronic design, prototyping, and testing
Support and execute the drone type certification process in line with regulatory requirements
Collaborate with software, firmware, and systems teams to ensure seamless hardware integration
Conduct design validation, reliability testing, and failure analysis
Ensure designs meet safety, performance, and manufacturability standards
Work with vendors and manufacturing partners to transition designs to production
Maintain detailed documentation for design, testing, and certification
Mandatory Skills and Qualifications
Strong background in drone, aerospace, or embedded hardware engineering
Hands-on experience with hardware design, prototyping, and testing
Understanding of drone regulations and type certification processes
Experience working with mechanical design and electronic components
Ability to think systemically and design for reliability and compliance
Preferred Attributes
Experience with DGCA or equivalent aviation regulatory frameworks
Exposure to flight testing, validation, and certification audits
Familiarity with manufacturing, supply chain, and quality processes
Ability to work independently in ambiguous problem spaces
