Overview of The Role
As a Development Engineer – Database Technologies, you will play a hands-on role in the design, development, and maintenance of data stores using MongoDB and RDBMS technologies such as SQL Server and PostgreSQL. You will write clean, efficient code and actively contribute to development across multiple applications.
This role requires a strong understanding of existing database implementations, including performance, maintenance, and operational readiness. You will be responsible for advising on appropriate database instances, supporting development and sustainment activities, executing data loads, and performing data modeling to meet application needs.
You will collaborate closely with multiple development teams, participate in technical discussions, and provide database expertise while also being capable of working independently. Strong technical skills, along with clear communication and interpersonal abilities, are essential for success in this role.
Job Responsibilities
Defining structural requirements of database instances, developing and installing solutions.
Define DB cluster/instances keeping in view of high levels of performance, availability, scalability and security.
Apply data modelling techniques to ensure development and implementation meet integration and performance expectations.
Independently analyse, solve, and correct issues related to databases in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
Working on Mongo query and Structured Query Language.
Writing procedures and functions using T-SQL/PlPgSQL.
Working on advances concepts of DB Engines like sharding, triggers, schedulers, partitioning, Mviews, auditing, versioning, data load etc.
Performance tuning of slow performing processes.
Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.
Trouble shoots and finds solutions for computer systems issues that affect data storage as they arise.
Improves architecture by tracking emerging technologies and evaluating their applicability to business goals and operational requirements.
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
3-5 years of hands-on experience as Database developer, with a deep understanding of Mongo DB and RDBMS Technologies like PostgreSQL/SQL Server.
Proficient in Mongo query.
Proficient in SQL.
Proficient in writing procedures and functions.
Skilled in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO).
Experience in writing complex SQLs, procedures and functions using any RDBMS system.
Work in an agile development environment.
Good communication skills and possess strong problem-solving skills.
