Job Purpose (Significance of the role & Objectives)
The primary purpose of this role is to develop high-quality sheet metal components for Body-In-White (BIW) applications using advanced surface and sheet metal design techniques. The role involves ensuring that all engineering parts meet stringent quality standards and project timelines. As a member of a collaborative team, the incumbent will support and work closely with other team members to achieve project goals. The position demands a strong focus on detailed engineering design of complex parts, contributing to the overall success of engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
Oversee the engineering, design, development, timing, and production release of body closure sealing systems, sheet metal, or door modules to meet vehicle and component functional objectives.
Work closely with various departments to ensure the successful execution of closure system designs.
Maintain effective communication with suppliers, customers, and external resources concerning technical issues.
Interact effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive project development.
Apply knowledge of composite materials and manufacturing processes relevant to closure systems.
Utilize in-depth knowledge of automotive industry standards, regulations, and best practices in all projects.
Ensure the quality, delivery, and timeliness of the responsible system.
Provide advanced inputs to internal teams and customers to resolve issues efficiently.
Desired Qualifications: Required Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience
Engineering degree with 2- 4 years of experience working with Automotive BIW Doors, Closures, and Structures part design.
Design and release experience in Body Closures Engineering.
Experience in Design & Development - BIW SYSTEMS - Body Side Panels, A, B, C Pillars, Closures (Doors, Roof, Bonnet, Tail Gate), Fender, Carrier Systems - Front End Carrier, Crash Management System.
knowledge of designing Upper and under body sheet metal components (e.g., Floor, Roof, etc.).
Experience in Style Surface Feasibility & Analysis, i.e., checking Draft, Tooling Feasibility, ECE R26 Regulation Evaluation, creating concept proposals, Packaging Study with surrounding parts, Bench marking Study and Analysis, Joining Processes for Sheet metal parts.
Understanding of Sheet metal part Operations - Piercing, Blanking, Forming, Drawing, Trimming, etc., for tooling feasibility.
Design the sheet metal body parts within the materials available.
Proficient in CATIA, SolidWorks.
Proven experience in master sections, packaging, and concept creation.
Should have basic Knowledge of DFME, (DVP&R), DFM, DFA and GD&T documentation.
Concept Design and Feasibility studies of Hoods, Side Doors, and Sealing Systems, Door Modules.
