Design Engineer – CAD & Tooling (SolidWorks / 3DEXPERIENCE)

We’re looking for a highly capable CAD-focused Design Engineer to join our global Mining Products Engineering Department. This role is ideal for someone with strong SolidWorks capability, a passion for detailed design, and the ability to translate engineering concepts into high-quality, manufacturable outputs.
About the Role
You will play a key role in the design and development of consumable products and associated tooling, supporting our Screens & Feeders product lines.
This is a hands-on design engineering role, working across global engineering, manufacturing, and product teams, where your primary focus will be high-quality CAD modelling, drawing creation, and product/tooling development.
Experience in rubber or polyurethane products and tooling is highly valued, but not essential — we are open to strong design engineers who can learn and grow into this space.
Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
Translate engineering concepts and product requirements into accurate, manufacturable designs
Support the design and development of:
consumable product components
moulds and tooling
fabrication and machining drawings
Produce complete drawing packages, including:
layouts
detailed manufacturing drawings
bills of materials (BOMs)
Work within ENOVIA / 3DEXPERIENCE environments for data management, revision control, and collaboration
Ensure designs consider:
manufacturability
tolerances
material behaviour
production methods
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to support:
design validation
tooling trials
production improvements
Maintain CAD standards, libraries, and engineering documentation
Identify design improvements and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across products and tooling
Support global engineering teams with design updates, modifications, and technical documentation
What You Bring
Core Requirements
Strong, hands-on experience in SolidWorks 2022 (3D modelling and drafting) — this is the key requirement for the role
Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings and design documentation
Ability to translate concepts into practical, buildable designs
Strong attention to detail and engineering accuracy
Experience working in engineering or manufacturing environments
Highly Regarded (but not essential)
Experience with 3DEXPERIENCE / ENOVIA (PLM systems)
Exposure to:
tooling or mould design
rubber or polyurethane products
mining, consumables, or heavy industry
Experience with AutoCAD and/or ANSYS (or similar tools)
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or equivalent
Typically 3–7+ years’ experience in design engineering or a similar role

Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
Strong communication skills and ability to work across global teams
Willingness to learn new materials, processes, and product applications
High level of ownership and commitment to quality
