About the Role:
As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for ensuring that the database runs smoothly and functions as expected to ensure business goals are achieved. Look for ways to optimize the performance of the database, create backups that come in handy during disaster recovery, and monitor security and access.
Candidate Requirement:
3+ years hands-on experience in PostgreSQL.
Must have a
deeper understanding of PostgreSQL architecture and internals.
Experience in
handling large databases
and
optimizing PostgreSQL performance.
Strong
SQL skills:
writing complex queries, stored procedures/triggers, understanding execution plans and indexes.
Proven experience
troubleshooting and solving complex database schema or warehouse issues.
Experience with
backups/recovery, performance tuning, and database security.
Familiarity with
Linux/Windows
for deploying and maintaining PostgreSQL servers.
Strong
problem-solving
and
debugging skills
for performance and query optimization.
Good
communication and documentation skills
; ability to collaborate effectively with developers and cross-functional teams.
Must-Have Requirements:
Database Design & Development
– Design and maintain efficient database schemas, tables, indexes, and relationships; develop stored procedures, triggers, and views.
Query Optimization & Performance Tuning
– Analyze and optimize SQL queries, indexes, and database configurations to ensure high performance and scalability.
Backup, Recovery & Security Management
– Implement and monitor database backup, restoration, and user access policies to ensure data integrity and security.
Database Monitoring & Maintenance
– Regularly monitor database health, resource usage, and logs; perform preventive maintenance and apply patches or upgrades as needed.
Collaboration & Troubleshooting
– Work closely with developers teams to resolve database issues, deploy schema changes, and ensure seamless data integration across systems.
Good-to-Have Requirements
Experience with pgBouncer, pgBadger, or other PostgreSQL monitoring tools.
Exposure to high-availability setups or cloud-managed PostgreSQL (AWS RDS, Azure).
Experience in data warehouse and data lake management and optimization.
Hands-on experience in disaster recovery planning and management.
