About this role

Job Description Purpose of the role To use innovative data analytics and machine learning techniques to extract valuable insights from the bank's data reserves, leveraging these insights to inform strategic decision-making, improve operational efficiency, and drive innovation across the organisation. Accountabilities • Identification, collection, extraction of data from various sources, including internal and external sources. • Performing data cleaning, wrangling, and transformation to ensure its quality and suitability for analysis. • Development and maintenance of efficient data pipelines for automated data acquisition and processing. • Design and conduct of statistical and machine learning models to analyse patterns, trends, and relationships in the data. • Development and implementation of predictive models to forecast future outcomes and identify potential risks and opportunities. • Collaborate with business stakeholders to seek out opportunities to add value from data through Data Science. You’ll play a pivotal role in safeguarding our operations through strong issue management, control oversight, and fraud‑risk governance, partnering closely with stakeholders across 1LOD, 2LOD, and CCO. Our team is responsible for coordinating and governing issues, controls, and fraud‑risk events raised under Fraud Strategy. The role ensures that issues are managed effectively, controls are reviewed thoroughly, and risk events are raised and monitored in alignment with internal policies and regulatory standards. You will partner across functions to uphold operational resilience, maintain quality documentation, and advance the overall fraud‑risk governance framework. To be successful in this role as a Data Scientist - AVP, you should possess the following skillsets: • Strong understanding of operational risk, fraud‑risk frameworks, and governance processes • Experience in issue management, control assurance, or risk event governance • Strong analytical and documentation skills with attention to detail • Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional stakeholders (1LOD, 2LOD, CCO, Control Partners) • Proficiency in using governance tools / systems for issue, control, and risk event tracking Some other highly valued skills include: • Experience in Fraud Strategy, Risk Management, Compliance, or Operational Risk • Working knowledge of RICM, controls assurance, and ORAC processes • Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in the role, such as risk and controls, governance expertise, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital and technology capabilities, along with job‑specific technical skills. This role is based in our Gurgaon office.
