THE ROLE
As a
Data Officer
, you will play a crucial role in the collection, analysis, and dissemination of data at district and state levels. Responsibilities include managing data systems, supporting research efforts, ensuring data quality, and building data skills within program teams. You will work closely with research and M&E teams to provide insights that drive decision-making and support program objectives.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Data Quality Checks-
Implement and maintain rigorous data quality control protocols at all stages of data collection, processing, and reporting.
Perform routine data audits and validation checks to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data.
Work closely with field teams to troubleshoot data-related issues and provide solutions to enhance data reliability.
Support the development of guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for data management and quality assurance.
Data Monitoring/Review-
Continuously monitor data collection processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting across all programs.
Regularly review program data to identify trends, anomalies, or inconsistencies.
Support the development and enhancement of data dashboards and reporting tools for program monitoring.
Provide feedback to program teams on data performance and suggest areas of improvement.
Capacity Building of Program Teams-
Mentor and support team members in effectively utilizing data for decision-making, monitoring progress, and achieving program objectives.
Develop user-friendly guides and materials to facilitate understanding and use of data tools and platforms.
Build the capacity of program staff to conduct basic data analyses and ensure data-driven program management.
Supporting Research and Data Team at the State Level-
Collaborate with the team to identify research priorities and design studies aligned with program goals.
Assist in developing state-level research protocols, including ethical considerations and data protection measures.
Support the implementation of state-wide surveys by coordinating field operations, training enumerators, and managing logistics.
Contribute to the synthesis of research findings for state-level stakeholders and support the dissemination of results to inform policy and program decisions.
Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools, such as Excel (including pivot tables, macros, and VLOOKUP functions), Access, PowerBI, Google Data Studio, and Python.
Familiarity with survey design tools like SurveyCTO, KoboToolbox, and Google Forms.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data quality management techniques.
Experience in training and capacity building, especially for non-technical teams.
Effective collaboration skills, with the ability to work across various teams and organizational levels.
