This role delivers strategic and operational consulting to global retail clients, focusing on merchandising and store operations across grocery, fashion, and general merchandise segments. Work you'll do As a Consultant – Merchandising & Retail Ops on the Customer Strategy and Design (CS&D) team, you will be responsible for… Collaborating with clients to understand their business challenges, objectives, and strategic goals. Using data-driven analysis to identify and prioritize opportunities for growth and improvement, including market research, competitive analysis, and customer data analysis. Delivering strategic and operational consulting across merchandise, category, assortment, pricing, promotion, inventory, and store operations. Leading or supporting retail planning platform implementation, including functional design, configuration decision-making, process mapping, and translation of business requirements into platform design decisions. Supporting transformative initiatives, stakeholder engagement, business development activities, thought leadership content, and awareness of industry trends, emerging technologies, and practices in customer and commercial strategy within the retail and consumer sector. The team The Customer Strategy and Design (CS&D) offering, part of the Customer portfolio, helps companies tackle a wide range of top management challenges, including new growth opportunities, customer engagement and service strategies, channel strategies, pricing strategies, and marketing and sales efficiencies. Leveraging industry relationships and insights, the team helps clients optimize resources and maximize value across the customer journey, spanning channels, segments, and experiences. Through testing and learning, the team identifies valuable paths forward, whether launching a new business, pricing a service, targeting a different customer group, or exploring a new channel. The team also helps clients define their future customer operating model, including roles, processes, structures, and technology platforms, to generate business value. Location: Bengaluru and Hyderabad Qualifications Required: Master of Business Administration (MBA) from a premier B School. 2 to 3 years of work experience for Consultant-level roles. Experience in one or more of the following: merchandise end-to-end planning, merchandise financial planning, assortment planning, demand planning, inventory planning, floor and space planning, forecasting and replenishment, customer segmentation, or retail analytics. Experience conducting market research, competitive analysis, customer data analysis, or business analysis. Experience in retail and consumer, including retail analytics, retail operations, or e-commerce operations. Experience using Microsoft Excel and data or visualization tools such as Structured Query Language (SQL), Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, or Microsoft Access. Experience translating analytical outputs into business insights and recommendations. Preferred: Experience in merchandise, category, or assortment strategy. Experience supporting pricing, promotion, or inventory strategy work. Experience with retail planning platform implementation or solution design. Experience with functional design, configuration decision-making, or process mapping. Experience partnering with technical implementation teams and business stakeholders. Experience across grocery, fashion, or general merchandise segments.
