Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) Manager Job Summary The Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) Manager is responsible for managing multiple client accounts, analysing financial data, and providing strategic accounting advisory services. The role involves overseeing accounting operations, reviewing the work of junior staff, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance, and implementing efficient accounting processes and technologies. The CAAS Manager also provides guidance on complex accounting matters, internal controls, and financial reporting while supporting clients in improving their financial management practices. Key Responsibilities Accounting Advisory & Governance • Advise clients on accounting issues related to governing documents, business structures, and operating agreements. • Identify and address complex accounting matters such as waterfall distributions, special allocations, and advanced partnership accounting issues. • Provide guidance on accounting considerations related to estate planning. • Analyse and recommend implementation of client-specific internal controls and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Financial Accounting & Review • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and transactional coding. • Ensure financial reports accurately reflect all accounting transactions. • Identify and resolve unclear or mismatched transactions across accounts, such as undeposited funds, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. • Train team members on troubleshooting bank feed issues and maintaining accurate financial records. Accounts Payable (AP) • Oversee accounts payable processes for multiple clients. • Review and approve invoices, payment batches, and AP reports. • Analyse AP trends and provide insights to clients. • Consolidate annual data required for preparing and filing 1099 forms . Accounts Receivable (AR) & Billing • Manage accounts receivable and billing functions. • Implement and manage progress billing and advanced billing methods. • Ensure accurate recording of invoices, deposits, and sales receipts. • Analyse receivable trends and improve billing and collection efficiency. Inventory Management • Recommend inventory management strategies and cost control measures. • Assist with month-end and year-end inventory adjustments and journal entries. Sales & Use Tax • Identify and analyse sales tax nexus across multiple jurisdictions. • Research state-specific tax requirements and advise on compliance. • Flag potential nexus triggers and ensure appropriate reporting. Payroll Management • Implement and manage payroll systems and related software. • Ensure compliance with payroll regulations, including multi-state payroll requirements . • Assist clients with payroll tax audits and process improvements. Investment & Portfolio Accounting • Analyse client investment portfolios and perform fair value adjustments. • Review reconciliations and identify potential tax implications. • Provide training and guidance to junior staff on investment accounting. Financial Reporting • Review financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. • Analyse financial trends and identify reporting issues. • Prepare and review cash flow statements. • Ensure appropriate financial statement disclosures. Technology & Systems • Advise clients on the implementation and use of CAS technology solutions . • Implement, train, and troubleshoot standard accounting software and tools. • Evaluate and implement specialised CAS systems to improve operational efficiency. Team Leadership & Development • Review work completed by junior accounting staff. • Provide training, mentorship, and technical guidance to team members. • Support staff development and improve accounting processes within the team. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred. • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. • Experience managing multiple client engagements in a professional services environment. Skills & Competencies • Advanced knowledge of accounting and financial reporting. • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Experience with accounting technology and CAS systems. • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines. • Excellent communication and client advisory skills. • Leadership and team management capability.
