Job Description - CA Industrial Trainee
Role Overview
The CA Industrial Trainee will support the Corporate Strategy & Planning function, working on both short-term execution priorities and long-term strategic roadmap initiatives.
This role offers exposure to high-visibility, high-impact projects spanning daily business performance management, sale planning, annual operating plans, business development, and new business model ideation. The trainee will work cross-functionally with Finance, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Category teams — gaining a holistic understanding of how a large-scale enterprise is planned, optimized, and scaled.
Key Responsibilities
• Support preparation and execution of Annual Operating Plans (AOP), long-term strategic roadmaps, and leadership business reviews.
• Drive daily and weekly performance tracking, identifying deviations from targets and recommending corrective interventions.
• Participate in business development initiatives, including market research, opportunity evaluation, and stakeholder presentations.
• Contribute to sale planning, revenue forecasting, demand planning, and margin optimization initiatives.
• Evaluate promotional and coupon strategies through ROI analysis and marketing effectiveness assessment.
• Build financial models, scenario analyses, and structured business cases for new initiatives and emerging business models.
• Develop dashboards, MIS reports, and structured leadership presentations with clear storytelling and data-backed insights.
• Conduct competitive benchmarking and industry research to inform strategic decision-making.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align operational execution with strategic priorities.
Must-Have Skills
• Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to connect numbers to strategic outcomes.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel (financial modelling, forecasting, scenario analysis) and PowerPoint (structured storytelling).
• Structured problem-solving ability with comfort in ambiguity and first principles thinking.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to interpret large datasets and derive actionable insights.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High ownership mindset with ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
Nice-to-Have Skills
• Prior exposure to strategy, consulting, FP&A, or business planning roles.
• Familiarity with e-commerce, consumer internet, or retail business models.
• Understanding of unit economics, cohort analysis, contribution margins, CAC/LTV frameworks.
• Basic knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Experience building financial models or evaluating investment cases.
Qualifications
• Pursuing CA — cleared IPCC/Intermediate.
• Eligible for Industrial Training as per ICAI guidelines.
• Strong academic track record with demonstrated analytical excellence and interest in strategy & general management.
