POSITION SUMMARY:
BOT VFX, a visual effects services company with global clients, is looking for an
Assistant Technical Director (ATD)
as a full-time
Permanent
role. The position is based out of Chennai.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Providing immediate troubleshooting and technical assistance for 2D/3D departments including Nuke, Maya, and Silhouette.
Performing root-cause analysis on complex pipeline bottlenecks to provide immediate fixes or workarounds.
Drafting clear technical documentation for new features and creating post-mortem reports for the daytime team.
Monitoring and managing code repositories to ensure stable deployments and version control via Git.
Managing technical tasks and support requests using JIRA or similar tracking software.
Designing and implementing artist-friendly interfaces and tools using Python and PySide6/PyQt6.
Collaborating with the Project Lead - Pipeline and engineering teams to test and release updated tools.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Experience: Minimum 2+ years of professional experience in the VFX industry with a solid understanding of 2D and 3D workflows.
Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Python with the ability to read, debug, and extend existing frameworks.
Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with the APIs of Nuke, Maya, and Silhouette.
Technical Skills: Experience handling code repositories with Git in a collaborative environment.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of Linux command-line tools and understanding of render farm management such as Deadline.
Technical Skills: Familiarity with production tracking systems such as Ayon Flow and ticketing portals.
Soft Skills: Proven ability to work independently under pressure and maintain autonomy during night shifts.
Soft Skills: Strong cross-disciplinary communication skills to collaborate across departments.
VFX Process Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the VFX process from pre-production through to compositing.
